I broke down and ordered it through Steam. Downloading now...
-
What version did you get, T?
-
What's hl2?
:D
/me goes back to playing hl:source... before finishing hl2.
-
I really hope this would download faster.
P.S.: Gillette I think "hl2" stands for Harry Lotter 2: The Chamber of Secrets". Not 100% sure though.
:D
-
What version did you get, T?
Bronze. I'm cheap =P
-
Silver ^-^
-
A bunch of us should get together and play CS source. :D
-
We should. However, I heard that CS: Source and 1.6 are completely different games. Gameplay wise. Be warned!
-
CS:Source seems virtually the same to me, it's just the whole physics things that's different. The only major difference I can tell is the major accuracy difference on the AK.
-
Meaning accuracy is worse? Cause I could get headshots at 200 feet with that thing.
-
Is anyone going to get Vampire:the Masquerade? It uses the half life 2 engine, and is an rpg, cana game get any better?
-
yah play hl2 single player
-
Beat it.
-
So it's my little brother's 16th birthday and he gets a fair amount of money.
To make a long story short, he DIDN'T get HL2.
What-an-asshat.
-
Agreed.
-
Meaning accuracy is worse? Cause I could get headshots at 200 feet with that thing.
No, it's alot more accurate.
-
o.o So, headshots at 400 feet. WHOO!
Yeah, I bought Vampire: Bloodlines. Not touching it 'till I finish HL2, though.

*drool*
god hl2 single player is the most amazing game I’ve ever played...
Who else was like me and spent an hour simply playing with the physics as soon as you got off the train?
Pick up a box walking and accidentally bumping against someone, and them saying "hey watch it" and dust poofing off of the box..
Picking up a can laying around and tossing at one of the guards and them chasing you with their glow rod....
Seeing how far you can run and fling your mouse to get the bottle all the way over the fence... (yes things like velocity and momentum are built in the physics engine)
Sitting and watching the tv screens to see what capatain underpants has to say...
throwing things against different surfaces just to see what sound different things make against each other...
And then once you get into the game...
Using your crowbar to smash stuff apart… noticing how you can keep smashing bits and pieces until they crumble into smaller and smaller bits
Or shooting and hitting different types of material in the game to hear what it sounds like.
How many of you played on the playground? I heard with the right position of the cinder block you can launch that babydoll off of the see-saw. ;)
If you just barrel through this game without really stopping... going slow and paying attention to ever little piece of scenery and tinkering with everything then my friend you have missed half of the game.
Not only is this a (the ultimate) single player first person shooter, but this is a chance for you to act in one of the coolest movies ever.
I can't believe how many little things have immersed me.
For instance I was blown away when I was walking through the train station and I was in line walking through the gates and one guard yells at me, tells me that I have to come with him.... Then leads me down this creepy hallway..... and while following him I got scared after looking in the slide box peep hole thing of a door. When I looked inside I saw a guard torturing a guy in a chair... then he spotted me looking in so he came up to the door looked me in the eyes and slammed the slide door closed....
Then... all I could do is look down the hallway to see my guard standing in front of a door cordially inviting me in....
So what do I do.... Turned and ran back the way I came only to find the door locked....
I turned around and looked down the hallway at him to see him yelling at me telling me to hurry up.
That was just a pretty thrilling part of the movie…. Er I mean game.
-
Yeah that it one awesome game.
With all the hype that surrounded it, I was afraid of bring disappointed but I so not.
What I particularly like about this game, aside the fact that it looks and "feels" so good and real, is that they make it hard to be a tourist. Most of the times you feel under pressure to escape from something. The most immersive game I've played ever (aside Galaga of course :D ).
Everybody should own a copy :)
-
Heh, likwid. I had the same impulses you did. I'm still near the beginning of the game. I'm still navigating through to get to the other lab after completely getting screwed over in the teleport (what luck to end up RIGHT OUTSIDE of the building I was just in. Heh

This is the coolest thing I know about HL2, in the beta (people at my college were in it) there was a welding tool, and for a time it was good. Man welded planks of wood to barrels and metal pipes with an engine, and it flew. Like a plane, except, the game didn't mean that to happen. They removed it because it was just too good to have it in there, people were making insane rocket launchers from swings and cars etc. One of my friends is re-programming it with some hope and a makeshift programming team.
-
hahaha
awesome.
I want a welder!
-
Sucky ending.
-
Yeah, I know I've been gone because of it.
I'm doing level design tutorials for www.hl2db.com now. So, that's where all my time has gone to.
-and as far as the ending goes... it was said before the game was ever released that the ending was going to be the end of half-life as we know it... so, you had to expect something like that. ;p Even if not, i don't feel like it was too bad; I mean, it came to a point where you thought you'd won.. you're about to see this wonderful ending, then wam... wait... there's going to be another half-life!
How is that a BAD ending? More half-life goodness coming soon! yay!
Ok, so I'm a half-life fanatic who would rather see another game than a good ending, so what? :P ;)
But anyway... yeah, check out that hl2db site i mentioned, it will be great. Bye for now!

Anyone know if Bloodlines is any good?
-
It's probably just that it's the middle child in a three part family .. the middle child always sucks :P
-
You know, I would say, 'hey, i'm a middle child', but that would be setting myself up.
-
Bloodlines is awsome too... although it definantly has some bugs.
-
Bloodlines is a little buggy, but nothing that ruins it in any way. Aesthetic stuff like spelling errors. Nice game, so far, though. Crimson, PM me, how far are ya?
-
Well I just beat the game 10mins ago. Pretty action packed. Probably one if not the best game ever made.
-
its the best game ever, the best part would have to be the "modified" grav gun, lol throwing around bodies is awesome!
