Tbone has mentioned that it may be a good idea for the F.A. to sponsor a community event... How about we run through some ideas. It would be great if we could scoop the Dev's on something they were planning themselves ;)
I have a few thoughts.... A scavenger or treasure hunt type of thing where people have to find certain people or objects or go to certain landmarks/monuments and get clues from a F.A. staff to get to the next place. Or maybe even better a where's Waldo ( or where's Tbone) in the Matrix.
Post your thoughts and ideas.
-
What, so if they see Tbone in the Matrix, they get a prize? I think Tbone should then consider becoming a spy, as he is going to have to do alot of sneaking, or our coffers will run dry.
-
all ya need to do is /who and you know where he is.
-
How about an auction? Kinda like the Antiques Road Show, except people bring rare items like Code Frags, & we spend Itachi's PvP Prize info!!!
Worst case scenario, we follow them out and challenge them to duel for their treasures...
-
I give in. SH it is.
-
a hunt will be a good idea
you don't have to give names, perhaps clues to names, or "dance in front of the temple" - instead of them contacting you, you contact them sorta thing :\
-
I like the treasure hunt idea.
-
Yeah, scavenger hunt-ish. Have them do activities and then write down the names of the people who contact them for each thing. First five with all $amount names win prizes.
-
that would be cool ....bring us X collector items and we'll trade you Y uber item
level 30 and under only hough (imo)
-
Thing is you can not trade/give away your collector items to other people once you get them. Same with the special items dropped by dungeon bosses
-
in that case first team vs team PvP event is my vote
-
The problem with the treasure hunt is that it isn't a viewable event. It won't attract the hoards to come watch the fun.
-
The auction is still a viable idea. We could just sell/show off cool stuff that we've found, not just collector stuff.
-
Another PvP idea: Have a group of 5-8 angels run around the Archive and anounce coords on Radio Free Zion every ten minutes or so.
-
Hahaha... that would be fun... FA vs the world.
-
I like the idea of giving clues to the location of the nameless contact who is moving around with the high end information prize.
-
bah, why cant I delete posts on this forum ... :P
-
Because this is the beta forum.

The battle last night with the collective in the archive on top of the platform in the middle gave me this idea.... "The F.A. announces the 1st annual KING OF THE HILL COMPETITION.... Come one come all Machinists, Mervs, this is your big chance to claim you were the ones who brought the Furious Angels down from atop their perch. Where: In the Archive When: TBA (by the boss of course) Prize: Pride.... Bragging rights are on the line folks so pull out all the stops. All you have to do is knock all the Angels from the platform and hold it for 10 min. (Of course we could do away with the time thing or change it)."
Only problem about this one is that Zionists wouldn't be able to challenge us because of the way the archive PVP works, but they would be more than welcome to come help us out. In that case we could call it a free for all sponsored by the FA, Zionists against all oncomers with the FA being the backbone. We'd have to have rules about no killing at the jack in points and so forth. But I like the idea. What say you...?
-
Transmitting on the radio would violate the NDA... Unless you could cover it up somehow :-\ (I wonder if they got a warning for the last time), but I like the idea of promoting the radio station.. maybe you could make them tune into RPR instead!
-
RFZ is now an official news outlet for MxO, which means they are given special permissions, but they probably have to GET the permission first. I like the King of the Hill idea, though no one would be able to spectate. It's either participate or hear about it later. No one said it has to be a huge public event, though.
What happened with the Collective?? I missed it! I officially challenged them, too. Did we win?
-
I neglect the forums for a day and people are talking about giving away my money and announcing stuff on RFZ, lol you fuckers ;p
And about RFZ, we haven't really asked for any permission or have been given any really, we've been breaking the rules and just seeing what happens. Luckily the dev team liked it since we were encouraging large community events and filling a void in the game ;x
We wouldn't be able to give away coordinates really for a contest on rfz because of the NDA, we're really general about our nda breakings..but if you wanted to arrange some event with rfz, make sure you get ahold of sundog 2 weeks or so before the event ;)
The problem with the "battle with fa" kinds of thing is that no clan really wants to fight us, we're the only ones that have alot of high levels, as seen by the collective, which is probably the strongest guild currently besides us, they stood no chance whatsoever, could you imagine what all these other clans would feel like dying in one hit to most of us would feel about it? It wouldn't be a very fun event on either sides of it.
If we're going to do an event, i'd say the best would be a 5v5 tournament or something along those lines once the team pvp comes up, and have no restrictions to if your in a clan or not. Then *maybe* you might have a decent turn out of players if your trying to get an event everyone can gather around and watch.
Otherwise the scavanger hunt or "where's tbone" ideas are pretty thrifty(if it werent for the /whois command) :x
-
it doesnt need to be tbone that they have to locate, it could just be any ol' dummy. Then Random people in FA will stand at different places and give clues that will lead them to another location with another person from FA giving more clues - until finally the person (or people, if they are working together) gets to the location that the prizeagent is hiding at ....
......and then challenges them to a duel :D
We could arrange a meeting place for the first clue to be given on the forums some time before it, and then announce the first clue to the people who are interested. I don't think it would be against NDA if Radio Free Zion went ahead and broadcasted any clues that they hear of. But I don't think it would be interesting enough to just do the 'follow the clues.' Instead, we could stick one of our level 50 guys ( If willing ) at the end of the hunt, and have them challenge the first one that finds them to a duel.
The prize would have to be big: bigger than a measly 3,000,000. With our resources, we could easily pool something like 10,000,000 or more in an hour or less if 4+ farmed and pooled the dough. So basically the outline would be something like this:
"Follow the Angel's Path"
- Tbone greets the people that come to partake the scavenger hunt, then gives the first clue. Not something overly difficult, but something that people would have to think about for a moment and then race to get there.
- We then assign people to take station at tne end of the first clue, to give further clues and lead to other stations. I think we could make this part a little more interesting too if you all are interested. Each station would give a clue, and part of a transmission code* to be given to the 'Boss' at the end.
- Then after all the stations have been passed, and the code is given to the Boss, the victor is challenged to a duel. If he loses, then he only get's half of the prize. But if he is victorious - he gets the full prize and boasting rights for quite some time.
*( I suggest this, to prevent people with dumb luck stumbling across the final person. Each station would offer 1-2 bits of the code in order to relay to the boss.)
What do you guys think?
Though you can't really observe, perhaps something could be drawn from this inital idea and be put to use towards the radio. It would boost some ratings if people knew they would maybe get some clues from the radio if they are having a hard time via the game. It could be some of that drawn in advertising stuff too - "And your next clue, after this song!"
-
The only chance for any clan now is to use a guerilla tactics mix of invisibility and hacker skills.
-
Only problem being Invisibility doesn't work right.
-
What happened with the Collective?? I missed it! I officially challenged them, too. Did we win?
Did we win...? No we didn't win we decimated them... It was over in less than 15 seconds 20 at the most.
I was in the archive killing master riflemen and saw the collective so decided to go up and say hi. I didn't even get a chance to type a word and they jumped me, about 4-5 of them total, mostly hackers (man do I hate hackers). I think I scared the crap out of them, because even though I was slowed, and RSI interrupted, and about a 3 other icons I didn't know, I was still able to get a misdirect punch off and kill one of them. After I died... We gathered the troops went in and slaughtered them. A truce was then called and we all agreed to meet up at the platform for a quick faction battle. We smacked them down quickly, or at least everyone else did. I think everyone of their hackers targeted me with code freeze and all kinds of stuff because this time I had about 7-8 icons across my screen. Good to know I put the fear into them :D Well I couldn't do anything and 20 seconds later it was over and they were all dead. I put a post on their recruitment site on Beta forums thanking them. We should definetly do that again.
-
5 of 'em jumped me as well earlier that day.
I managed to kill 2 of them before the buffs they casted on me wore off and I hyperjumped away in the nic' of time :p
I can only imagine what was going on their voice comms when that all went down, I can guarantee they weren't very happy though ;)
-
I don't wanna hear them complaining about being unfair again...hehe
-
What's unfair? That we know the game better than they think they do?
-
did i hear someone say auction?? stud auction?? hahahahaha we had one of those here at school .... fundraiser for the band frat ..... they sold their services to the highest bidder ..... meh .....
-
...what kind of services....hmmm not a bad idea...not a bad idea
-
anything we tell them to do!! the only resrictions are that it has to be done by the end of the semester and it cannot include sexual favors (that's actually in the contract hahahaha) .... i dunno .... the boy i bought is making me pancakes!! :D (i'd ask for roffles, but we have no roffle iron hehe)
-
Alrighty then.... Back on track I have a feeling the DEVS are going to scoop us by declaring their own version of a King of the Hill in the Archive. Just a feeling I have. With all the bitchin' and moanin' going on over the ganking and spawn killing in the Archive I think they may take the opprotunity to let people have a real fight with them.
-
works for me, having itachi the greatest fighter in the beta is great publicity for us...well almost everything we do is great publicity. as for grim....no roffle?!?!?! wtf grim....i thought u were a team player...how could you be in the FA and not own a roffle iron? im disappointed...and a little hungry from all the roffle talk.
