I realize most people stay pretty busy throughout the game, but also I know that some of us get a little tired of the grind at times. So I was wondering if there was anywhere that we called headquarters inside the Matrix? If not, I think it would be a good idea to maybe have some club or bar(or whatever), that we could retire to when we just want to chat or trade. This place could be used as a meeting point before special events to allow for uniform distribution and anything else we might need to get together for(ie: practice duels before an event, etc...)
So do you think this would be a good idea, to have our own HQ? If so, what places do you recommend? I think the Pearl Phoenix Dojo would be a good place along with many other clubs/ bars. It could even be a certain floor of a building or anything. Anyway I think it would be nice to have an Official HQ, what do ya'll think?
-
I don't think we should make points of interests, such as the Dojo, our own. They belong to all players.
I think we should get a HQ though. I'm not sure what the devs intentions are about that. They might give each faction a construct that only members of that faction could access.
If there's no construct, I suggest that we use some anonymous building in a restricted area, somewhere close to a hardline but hard for new players to find.
-
I imagine something like the housing projects in DAoC but on a much larger scale. Something like combining the battlegrounds with the houses. So The Collective could try and seige our base or something. That'd be fun, Tbone gets on the TS, "Warning, Warning! Sentinals coming in fast, GET BACK TO THE BASE!!" And we could defend it. The only thing they get away with is the pressure cooker and a lamp or two.
-
Doesn't Sound like a bad idea... It doesn't have to be flashy either just a nice meeting spot in a random building or apartment complex should suffice.
-
What about one of the projects in Moriah Projects? Are there floors that are accessable all the time? That's a place that's newbie filled, but not interseting to anyone else?
It would be great if the Dev's would allow faction "bases" that could be personalized! That is, if they don't give us our own construct.
-
Theres a really cool club, its called club duality, I think. I cant remember where it is, but I think its in Moriah, and it's definately the coolest club I have been to. It's in like a 30 floor building, and the club is on the top three floos, with a perfect are for dueling.
-
Yeah but any well known locations such as clubs, casinos, etc. will host social events and are going to be meeting points. We want something hidden and anonymous.
Putting our HQ in a club would be an invitation for anyone to walk right in.
We can always duel on the top of whatever buiding we select.
-
That club sounds nice, but coredump does have a good pt. I have found some smaller, unmarked bars that are pretty cool and I don't think these would be large enough to host any 'all inclusive' events so we could claim one.
-
HQ would be kickass, but i disagree with having it somewhere that "newbies" have trouble getting into, because we will always have low-level people trying to level up, and it's not fair to them to meet somewhere they can't get to
somewhere quiet would be good, though, near a hardline that's not hard to find but not very popular, either. and not ones that you jack in and you're dead before the screen even loads :(
MEH!
-
I'm on board with the meeting place idea. I have to agree that it should be just the floor of a building though. Nothing that people would actually want to check out.
-
somewhere near a hardline and the archive entrance would be cool.
-
I understand what you're saying Grim. When I said we should choose a place that is hard for new players to find I meant non-FA new players.
I'm thinking that high level FAs would escort low level FAs to the appropriate access node and hardline as needed.
If we select a place that is close enough to a hardline, low level players shouldn't have a problem with local mobs.
The point is that we want a place that is hidden, remote and hard to stumble on by pure luck. If we don't do that, we'll end up with a huge target on our HQ. Either that or we'll have a line up of people at the door trying to join. That why I'm thinking of somewhere in a restricted area. I would also hope that we kept the location of our HQ a well kept secret.
See what I mean ? Even the most furious of angel needs a quiet cloud to rest his head on ;)
-
Tbone and I had considered/talked about this weeks before any other FA other than the 3-4 of us that were in beta. I dont think it was ever really concluded because it wasnt as though there was a lot of us at the time - but there are an awful lot of unmarked bars very close to hardlines that would do perfectly. I had one place marked as a "Cool Spot" but it dissapeared in one of the patches, and I didnt spend any time looking for another cool spot.
-
Personally, I think we should have a public hangout, too. A club we frequent, like Club Duality, which sounds extremely interesting. I'm thinking of the roleplay aspect. Sure, people can barge in in a very hostile manner, but we're the FA! We can beat them down. We can be like the friggin' Mafia or something ;) Hang out with the Furious Angels at Club Duality!
-
I am all for a HQ, I think that it is a great idea! Even though if it is in a restricted area I would need to have an escort for sure!
*Chamillion frowns cause he is only lvl 11*

HQ is good, a static HQ is not. If we do go ahead with the idea of an HQ, not only should it only remain an HQ for long, but we should be constantly on the look out for new ones. Then, after a while, we might go back to a previously used one, so if people see a load of white clad dudes walking into a building, they don't get too suspicious, as we won't be there for much longer than a month, then, even if they do check it out, it should be long empty. It would also add too the idea that we are mysterious.
-
I guess it's a good idea to always be looking for a better HQ.
It's relatively easy for a spy to follow one of us to the HQ.
-
Which is why we need to change it often so that telling everyone where we are does them no good.
-
Yep. Good point Ajax.
-
So, what exactly would we be doing at this secret lair, and why so secret?
-
Plotting the demise of our enemies? Hmm... I dunno.
-
in TS some people were saying it's a nice idea, but not really useful. really the only uses would be to sit and chill (like if you go afk) or an immediate place to trade items. meh
-
The HQ doesn't need players to be there all the time. In fact even if we use it once a month, its still technically a HQ and it might be better that we don't always visit it if we would want to keep it a secret. Also the idea of it being dynamic(constantly changing) isn't that bad of an idea either. However, heres some reasons people might want to meet up there:
1. Inter-faction tourneys
2. Practice duels for a tourney
3. Wardrobe/Uniform updates/distribution pre parties, events, or anytime.
4. Welcoming new faction members. aka; meet-n-greets. (The higher ups may want to consider actually meeting with players in-game for recruitment interviews; just an idea)
5. Trading
6. Meeting place for FA teams pre missions.
7. They just wanna get down and kick back a couple! aka:bored of the grind
It might just be used rarely, but in the future we may need to get together. This idea in no way needs to be rushed, and this gives us time to search and fine some prime real estate.
-
Hehe... This is just a thought...
What if we asked one of the Devs to have a building made for us? Like one of those places witha monument in front. The monument could be our logo.
I know it's not likely to happen, but it's worth a try to at least ask
-
Heh, we have some leverage over the Devs, but I doubt we could get an office building for us with a massive angel monument-logo outside from them... It'd be cool tho! :D
-
HQ idea is a great one .. As somebody stated already after some time ppl will get borred of grind or will want to just go some place where they can talk/trade with other FA members :) So a HQ is a must have imo .
-
Just an idea, but in the films Morpheus took Neo, and presumably all potentials to a certain building, somewhat personalised to his own taste; leather chairs, rather bleak, etc. So if we had certain marked locations, that could be where we take potentials? This doesn't have to be an HQ, just a certain floor on a certain building.
-
Great idea ..:) Making the interview in this kind of places would be so cool :)
Edit: I wonder if we will be able to make furniture in the future (coders) . That would be a great idea cause we could make the rooms and/or the HQ exacly as we would see it fit :)
-
i think that this is a fine idea. it brings up atopic i posted a while back. about us having meetings in the game. the public place idea is not so good, because it could be a prime spot for any fraction, of any org to try and take over, think about it. if the collective want to take over they could recrute some other guilds to help them, and wat is to say that the other zion guilds won't want it.
but i am all for the Hq idea. but i am a very low level, and because of my problems accessing and playing the game, i do not have the chance to level up. so it should be in an area ALL members can reach and there should be one member elected as bouncer, and there will be a password that will change every week so only Fa members can access the place.
-
I think in some sort of sewer or subway ((There used to be unlabled sewers, I don't know if there are anymore,)) for a meeting place. Otherwise, it would be better to wait until we know about personal faction constructs.
-
Or all the houses/HQs are in a certain Construct. We would simply Teleport from the Hardlines to the HQ Contruct and Our own HQ and the ones of our allies. I bet they're already starting it too, because if you look on the Hardlines List, down at the very bottom is says, "Constructs". After we get our own HQ, it'll show up there and we can TP there! HA! I already have it all figured out and I'm not even a Dev.
-
Umm. Who said no?
