Title: Alias Tags in MxO Forums
Post by: Anonymous on January 18, 2005, 10:16:22 am
I've noticed that certain people have linked small gifs as their alias' in the MxO Forums.  It might be cool if we all had Alias Tags, similar to our Dog Tags but without all the major customization that each member has had on their dogtags.  Maybe only slight customization for certain things.  Perhaps including the FA Logo in all of them, but color coded for Commander, Captain, First Mate, & Crewmember.

Anyone?

Sorry Beleev, the talented ones never get a break... :D

EDIT:  Kinda like this...  (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/onekairos/KairosAliasTag.gif)

Or this... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/onekairos/KairosAliasTag2.gif)

EDIT:  Sorry for the continued edits, but here's the last one... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/onekairos/KairosAliasTag3.gif)

i like the second one, mainly because the box makes it stand out, but the box on the last one is a bit too big. i know people on the mxoforums have been complaining about some of the aliases, but too bad haha. color coding would be great, or else we could just match the color to our sig :)

Well...

I checked the dimensions on the 'ADMIN' tag the Devs have and its 119 x 59.  I added a 3rd pic to my 1st post & stuck it in the forums, but I get this stupid purple border around it.  I've seen a blue border around someone elses, & one with no border but I can't for the life of me get rid of this purple freakin box.  The dimensions on my tag are 125 x 50, so not too bad compared to the dev tag...

I like the 3rd one,  but it may be too big...I dunno.  To get rid of the border, this is what I use...  (Got this from Nartak)  Be careful because their is a character limit.

Sounds ok!
Got to make sure that my name can fit! If you can draw me up a version, that would be swell.

I have a way to get around the limit, but I don't know if/how much the devs enforce it, so I'll hold off for now...

It would be nice to have uniform alias tags on the MxO forums.  I'm thinking along the lines of what Kairos suggested.  Something simple like just the FA symbol and the name.  We could either color code the names to reflect rank or just have colors that match with each member's sig.

For now I've just put a simplified version of my sig as an alias.

An official word from Tbone is necessary before mass production...but I think he may be against picture alias tags, more likely to want to stick with [FA]Name as a standard.

I'm all for it but lets keep it somewhat small, dont want the forums to get laggy because everyone keeps pressing the limit on the size of their alias

I'll work on a basic design, maybe a 2nd version but Flash it up a little, & see if I can't make the file size small, if not damn near null...
