I was looking at the pushed back thread in the forums and noticed a link to

If you notice it it is server status, this would be a great feature to add another // on the side bars. As you notice though it is only HTML so as soon as it goes down it might not be updated until a human fixes it, but it could be server based too. So all of you good in the knowledge of programming find a way to get this on the sidebar. Or if you really want to be nice to the community find a way to make it System Tray based or usable on other faction sites.

Ket.... This was put into the open forums because it is released information on the beta (Live) website. It is completely open information.
