I had to format my harddrive and thus reinstall the game. I was halfway through patching up to the live status and then my computer rebooted from some of the other installs I was running. Now when I try to login, it says I am up to date, but I know that I am not. I try to do full system scan, but it only patches the launcher, restarts and then says everything is all fine.. but I still haven't downloaded half of the patches even though it says my client version is the current one. Do I have to restart installation again and forgo the few hours of DL I already did? Is there a .cfg file I can delete so that the game can recognize that I'm not at live patched status? Please let me know what I should do so I can get back into the game ASAP.
Thanks
Marc

So, I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled entirely. Now I enter the launcher and it updates the launcher to ver 7.3063 and correctly acknowledges that I'm at client version 7.2016 (reinstalling from stress test files, CDs are not readily availible). I am having the same problem, Authentication failure, tells me to retry with full system check. I do that, I restart the launcher with full system check on, it tells me the launcher needs patching, it instantly patches the launcher and then restarts. No matter how many times I tell it to do a full system check, all it does is patch the launcher which is already fully patched.

Did you uninstall or just install over the top. Some of the files in the directory do not get replaced either way. What you should do to do a complete reinstall is.
1) Uninstall the game
2) delete the directory the MXO files are in (chances are there are some lingering files there)
2.5) If you don't want to do the above point the reinstallation to a new directory when you get to step 3.
3) Reinstall
4) Patch / launch
Chances are your files that are corrupt are not the files you are reinstalling but the modified files like the maps / mp3 files / etc.

I'll try it.. I bet its a CSR conspiracy.

Damn I deleted the residual files and even installed to a new DIR and the same problem.. it won't scan my files, only the launcher and when I try to login instead of auto patching it tells me I'm incompatible. I would have thought that maybe it's a way to stop the stress test players from patching to retail but I already had half ofthe download completed when I had to reboot and could never start again. I might officially be out of the game till I get home in 9 days, which might not be so bad for me considering I still have 4 more exams :) I just wanted the ability to pop in for 5 minutes here and there and kill dungeon bosses and build up some loot for the faction during my little breaks.

so if you reinstal the game do you reset your char or not?

I recently reinstalled, no character reset :)
Cortico, I tried reinstalling from the beta install file but it didn't want to patch at all. So I went ahead and installed from the CDs. I was able to patch up to the current version and get in game. Well, only after figuring out that I needed to install wmp9 first. That was just the beginning of my problems... Anyhow, you might wanna try getting the CDs and installing that way. Make sure you install wmp9 or 10 as well.

also don't forget direct x 9.0c

That's what I've been trying, the beta install file and it just won't work. It might be protected that way so the fileplanet people have to have the disks at this point to prevent the client from circulating the internet postlaunch? Either way, I'll be home in 8 days and I'll reinstall then.
