Looks like the game didn't meet expectation. The MSRP is now at $29.99.

KYAHAHA. Lel knows to work it like a pro. That's how I planned it, too.
I dont' think the game is failing, I just think they realized it would be unwise to keep the price up that high with the monthly fees they're charging.
World of Warcraft is the same way, right? 30 bucks or something, plus the subscription per month once you're addicted and have already bought the software.
-
yeah i think they went ohh shit people dont want to pay that much just to try a game out. over all i think it will get quite a few more people playing
-
No. I can assure you. WoW is still $49.99. Along with collector sets that are $100.

Well than what the hell is the one that's 30 dollars? FFXI? Something else?
-
COH is 30. FFXI is 20. SWG has so many different things, the total experience, collector set, jump to light speed - and they all range 20-40 dollars.
-
lol I'm $300 in debt ! :D
-
BTW its EQII that is $30
-
I got it for 25£ Lol
-
:( I had to pay £29.99 erk
-
$30 to beta test a game? wha? ;)
-
PlanetSide with the single expansion pack is $20. thats a steal IMO. but yeah. the games only been out a month and its already down to $30. thats wrong. i dont know what the monolith execs were expecting, but not every game can have WoW level sales. I think the game at launch has been a sizeable success, but obviously not enough for The Powers That Be if theyre dropping the MSRP 1 month after launching. as always theyre greedy for more.
-
Could be good for us if they lower the subscription fee.
-
Well, I ended up importing it from america, paying just under £30 for the actual game, and then £19 for bloody VAT. You think you payed alot, pah! I laugh at you.
-
Hmmn, it is a bit early.
Its almost like buying a 1Ghz processor, just for the 3Ghz to come out the next day at the same price... you sorta wonder "why didn't anyone tell me!"... and that sort of action is deemed unfair.
I paid £29.99, i was annoyed because its advertised as lower on the websites.. they say those are web prices which is fair enough except they don't state that! I go to virgin megastores to try and get a price of a game that I will pick up in store... no chance of finding that price it seems.
-
Planetside could be free and it wouldn't be a steal.
Consider ALL the problems that MxO has, put it in a FPS and put in an even more horrible storyline...and that PS.
(they did have a nice UI, but that is not worth playing the game)
-
i think its more to the effect that mxo is losing a lot of customers coming out with a game that was unfinished, just like swg, and now their trying to get back the people by bringing down the prices, i love market teams, rush the game out and then try to get more money by slashing the prices later!
-
BTW its EQII that is $30
But they also have the special collectors editions too.
-
Yep, that's bullshit we got screwed woo hoo. You think we'd get a discount or something for actually being in BETA but instead we get charged more. HAHA monolith is truly a great company.
-
Shit!!!! I could of used that extra $20 for gas....damn gas prices are a bitch now these days...so damn!!!! Wish I could /ccr this and actually get the $20 back.... :'(
-
*slams head on desk*
-
Just to make it official, I got screwed twice (damn bday gifts), anyway...
Wish I could bug the hell out of ebgames to give the price difference back, since it's been less than 30 days that I purchased it lol.
-
The price of the game was most likley set by Sega of America.
-
Actually, I remember getting charged around $10 or so to have my SWG beta CD's shipped to me. I'm a sad man who can't invest worth crap. :)
