ag.... damn quicktime format. Anyone got the files to play .mov on WinAmp?
-
Heh, those are awesome.
-
dude come on quicktime is a quick simple install.
-
I don't have Real or Quicktime and I don't use Windows Media Player (Its still at version 8). The only file I haven't been able to play is .mov. What can I say I am a Minimalist (If I hit CTRL ALT DEL right now I would only have 23 processes running.)
-
hmm well i got tons of stuff installed on my comp and when i start up my comp from a restart I have like 24 processes. But yeah i understand what ya mean.
-
Wow I've got nearly 70. (68 right now) but i know why, its cause im running a whole crap load of servers on my machine. I really should turn them off!
-
since this topic has gotten off track, how do you know which processes you can turn off and which ones you need to keep running?
-
Well ... /Appoligises for the continued hijack.
If you really want to know what processes are running hit ctrl+alt+del to get into the task manager.
Goto the process list.
Search on google for process list, or i've found http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm <------- that site quite useful
To turn them off you can either find what is starting them by using msconfig, or get the startup control panel (google it), or you could end process, but you'd have to do that every time you booted up.
Once you've turned em all off, reboot, check the list to make sure they are off, and you're all set.
All this talk now, and i've decided im gonna get rid of my servers. See what i can come up with rather than the 66 im currently running. :S might go and get another gig of ram today too not sure. :P

eroz: 2 suggestions:
[1] mplayer. oh man, I freaking love mplayer. it plays about any format I can think of. and it's available on most os's, whether you use linux/windows/mac.
-or-
[2] second option, download Real Alternative/Quicktime Alternative. ( I think they bundle them together now. It installs just the codecs for both those formats, without the nonsense of their respective players. also installs what's simply referred to as media player classic, a simple clone of the old windows 6 media player, that plays most anything, and is kept light and simple.

personally I hate quicktime and realone.
I have a tool that is like a RealSpoofer, but I don't have a quicktime. So, I have to have it installed. Its not the size, its the annoyingness.
-
/agree
I hate apple's products, yet i have an ipod go figure. :p
-
yeah, im not a fan of real one or quicktime, hence my use of real alternative and quicktime alternative :) I only use them for embedded content though, if I know the url for the source I just plug it into mplayer until someone writes a mplayer plugin for firefox that's for windows
