Interesting:

Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" cracked in 24h:
window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all'

AV sez, "This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours."
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

It turns off the trigger for the key check

Actually 2k does have some limitations as a home desktop service.
Note that Windows Vista is going into beta this fall, will be released next spring, so time for a format soon!!

limitations like what? u cant use windows media player 10 or microsoft spyware beta! oooh wooptie fucking do. i have never had any problems with any piece of software designed for xp on win2k, at all. xp is totally unnecessary imho, just like ME was.

2K was a business workstation, ME was its "home" counterpart.
A workstation is not "as powerful" for home use... naturally, since XP is built on NT5 (2000) architecture, apps for XP are almost always compatible with 2000...

The XP code just build upon what 2k already had going for it, adding functionality and stability every step of the way, therefore 2000 misses out on various issues addressed by XP. One major revision is the security and protocol architecture change in XP SP2, which I believe has not been updated for 2000, but one noticable issue is hardware. XP is just more compatible with various hardware types that 2000.

The kicker is the multimedia performance... on XP it is far superior, with 2000 not being able to perform some advanced program functions.

If you have 2000, with no problems, then keep it; if it aint broke, and all...
If you don't use anything that gives a problem in 2000, then you will never notice the issues, but XP is a home and pro product, whereas 2000 is marketed as a pro product only.

you also get better directx performance with xp, among other things.but since we all now know you're using 2k, feel free to throw the public IP of that box our way, im sure metasploit would have a field day with it. :)
