Title: New Ship Name Idea
Post by: Anonymous on August 10, 2005, 11:13:39 pm
Ok, I just came back from seeing the film, The Island (a great movie by the way; very underated at this point.) Anyways, there was a ship in the movie with the name "Renovatio." This word means rebirth, renewal, renovation, restoration. In keeping with the latin names of our ships, I think this would be a great addition to the fleet should the time ever come to create another ship.

Let me know what you all think.

feritas sounds too much like veritas. we could just get rid of the veritas ... :p

How about Aequitas? (A HVCft named Justice would almost have to be a Strike Division HVCft)

Maybe an old-folks ship, HVCft Emeritus?

If I ever get my own ship, I want it to be the Ordinatio. Latin for power/rule/order.

To quote a song from Team America...

"Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?"

I like the idea for the ship name, though.  :)

Yeah... i've been suggesting this one back when they only had 3 ships in the FA =P

I really love that name but i don't think it'll make it in should we need another ship =(

Neato, If i ever have my own ship I want it to be Seraphim... The Seraphim are the angels who are 'closest to god' and because they are so close to 'god' they burn with his intensity, in Latin it means Burning one or burning angel, and Seraph means guardian... Nice. :)

You know what. I don't mind Michael Bay at all. He is a great action director he just tends to choose some shitty movies to get involved with (Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys 2, etc.) However, he has done some good ones (The Rock.) I went into this movie with an open mind and came out very satisfied. It wasn't one of his usual put your logical thought on hold and enjoy the movie type thing. This was actually a pretty well constructed plot, granted it is not totally original in many ways, but it was still damn good and the great acting only enhances it. If you choose to not see it simply because of the last few movies he made that had shitty stories that were well beyond anyones ability to save just by good directing, then I guess it is your loss. It got great reviews even by critics who felt the same way about him up to this point and even they enjoyed themselves.

Unfortunately, the marketing campaign for the movie sucked so it hasn't made too much money and many people don't even know the movie exists. lol I have always loved action movies, however, I don't like great action at the expense of a good story. This film had both and I really liked it, whether it's Michael Bay or not.

I thought The Rock was one of the best action movies I've seen... Plus I'm a fan of Cage and Connery. :p  Infact I even found a counter-strike map that was based off that movie.
