As much of an Apple apologist as I am, this is just ungodly stupid on their part.  They will in fact have to pay Microsoft a percentage of every iPod they've ever sold.  The iPod has been around since... 2001?  Considering the number of iPods sold, and depending on the percentage that Apple must pay, Microsoft is going to be a few hundred million dollars richer pretty soon.
