Kanye West Takes His Show on the Road

Rap superstar and Grammy winning artist Kanye West went political earlier this month by slamming President Bush at a charity concert.
"George Bush doesn't care about black people," West said as he stared into the camera. Fellow presenter Mike Myers stood in disbelief and the NBC network cut away from West, and later cut his comments from the later editions of the broadcast.
But Kanye will be uncensored on his upcoming tour and "andPOP" has the tour dates on its web site. They report that Common, will also be on the tour as he signed to his GOOD label, and Keyshia Cole and American Idol winner Fantasia Barino will also open for West.

The end section "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was one of the first things in the news in the UK regarding the "response" to Katrina.

Actually, George Bush doesn't care about a larger group of people, that just so happens to include black people.
George Bush doesn't care about people who aren't named George Bush.

His name is Kanye, not Kayne.
The click where he says that, and Mike turns in shock was shown quite a lot on TV News over here in the UK, when I was watching like the wed/thurs after Katrina hit. Main reports about Katrina were laced with the lack of reaction from Bush report. I don't know what your TV News is allowed to show or not...

sorry but I agree with and disagree with him, bush doesn't like a whole lot of people, and black people just happen to be on his list... not to mention his mother's comments on how the victims are better off now in houston and how they never had it so good.....but yeah kanye shouldn't have been so specific, i mean not when the news says "looters" captioned under images of black people swimming with water, yet when it was a white person on tv, it's say "found"... we should really be calling these stations out instead of bush..
pretty much every radio station and person i know in the major metropolitan area of chicago has agreed with him, and not people that share the same mode of thought as me either..
what was racist was that they had not attempted to transport or relocate people from any ghettoes, but did so for people of other neighborhoods...Also Michael Brown went on TV the day of the hurricane and told people to goto the dome, and on thursday of that week, he got into an argument with Ted Koppel about how he didn't even know people where there til Ted Koppel asked where the help was on that Thursday night.....and he then says "well i didnt tell them to go there"....

Yeah, to say George Bush doesn't care about black people is just too stupid and too ignorant. I had respect for the man up until that point. There should be no political discussions because the conversations can get heated, as stated above. I think it's safer just to leave this thread be as it is and discuss this stuff in private if you really see fit to.

I never met either of them in person, so I reserve judgement for what they do in public. One ignored a disaster, the other publicised it. I'm not sure how I feel about either situation.

I don't like bush either. BUT. Kanye is just doin this crap to sell albums.
