This just appeared on the Bluepill forum:

What?  More people want to destroy FA?  That's scandalous!  That's unheard of!  3 words come to my otherwise speechless lips:

Get in line.

My only concern was that he said there were three amongst us, unless it was bullshit.  That could have been Woodgrain, Blueleotard and Adamaro...?  OMG the paranoia.

Time to re-do the riddles?

Seemed like it said there were 3 on teh path - as in 3 trying to get in.
Plus, changing the challenge won't do anything. If one "good" person can get in, anyone can.

It's always a safe bet that every faction, including FA, has at least one or two "spies" in it. I have always expected that. I also beleive we have less because of our rough recruiting (even though it's been very loose lately). You have to look at it like this - What info can they give away? a TS serv? big deal. There are only a few things that would comprimise "FA" if known by certain people, and even some of those things are small and not known by many people anyways.

Trust FA... the people who may be too good of friends with others make it kind of obvious... ST1, Blue, Wood...

True, but rebricking would at least stop them for a while - and perhaps dissaude them from carrying on.  Anyways, they couldn't get any important info beyond a member list, but they could still nick our ideas and that pisses me off just as much :D  Particularly when you guys do such a good job summarising the events

The big problem is that redoing a challenge takes a TON of work, and I really like what Ket put together. The one up now can be changed - That's where the changes come in.

Yeah sorry that was what I meant, fresh riddles and all

Edit: The geezer is contactable at least: http://www.thejediacademy.net/show_profile.php?f_id=5719

Ex CotC wannabe, see his posts on their forum about his mic not working etc etc, some BS anyway.  Certainly doesn't look like anything worth worrying, the guy's prolly just drumming interest in his own new crappy faction

We may need to take the challenge up a notch.  I have a couple ideas of how to make the path a bit more difficult, while remaining fun and intriguing.

This is probably an isolated incident, but if we start to think that we are untouchable, then we're in trouble.  We should always be humble enough to take the necessary precautions to protect the faction.

Nik0, Blueleopard, Ademaro, and (possibly) Woodgrain are four examples of people that tried to take us down from the inside.  Four people in roughly five months.  This says to me that we should probably be a bit more strict in deciding who we accept and who we turn away.  We may also need to make an effort to do a bit of research on prospective members.

Just my 2 $i.

I'm happy to do what I can when I see new members in the Bluepill forum, I'll post here or report back on anything I see that looks dodgy

I agree that a thorough (as thorogh as one can in MxO) background check is an excellent idea (in fact in game intel gathering seems like a great project for relations division when there isn't productive RP to be had).  The question is, how would a concept like this be implemented?  Who would be responsible?  Exactly what info are we looking for?  How do we deal with false positive results (assuming that we do a Google search on the user name, come up with a bunch of results on animal porn discussion boards, and then find out that it's a totally different person)?  Just some ideas.

I sent the guy an email. Hopefully he'll respond.

I did some research and all I could find is that he only has one name on the challenge and never progressed. He registered in February and this is his first post. No other names match with his IP.

A "child of the code" could mean that he is roleplaying being a bluepill or it could mean he used to be in the faction Children of the Code. As for being a "believer" of the Angel, I don't know if that means he was once a member or just a fan. Judging by the fact that he only has one username for that IP, I'm guessing he was not a member.

Well there are common indicators.  Most of the fakers use several Sony game sites under the same name.  Sometimes they leave clues in their profiles that lead to other areas; sometimes there's enough to start a more in-depth trace.  People are lazy, they don't expect to be tracked down so they don't make much effort to disguise themselves.  An IP check on new reggies would be a very good start though, and a ban on the known troublemaker's IPs in the forums and on TS

He was a CotC wannabe too, I wouldn't be surprised if they get a similar stupid threat

He replied to my email:

===Pirate Transmission Uploaded===
===Seether signal Initialized===

The three you seek are simply the shadow,
It's the One that you must center your focus,
He is the one out of the three to bring Meravingians redemption,
The other two are simply the destructees of the matrix,
Set your eyes upon the One,
and your fate shall unravell the mystery to your soon foecomming,
If you wish to meet, leave a letter in the center of the subway,
Which subway does not matter, for I am a node. I am everywhere.

okay who's the tupac wannabe: http://bluepill.followtheangel.org/viewtopic.php?t=902

i say this, cuz someone posted their shit up as Tupac's alias Makaveli... but they can't even get that right, they spelled it "Makaveilli" instead......

it wouldn't be a tupac wannabe if he atleast spelled it "Machiavelli"... but nooo he tried to spell it the same way as tupac and can't even do that right

if you're in the faction, sorry for being a jerk. but it's funny

Can we focus on what this guy is talking about? Maybe his RP has some flaws, but you certainly don't want this guy to think he outsmarted us, do you?

"Leave a letter in the center of the subway. Which subway does not matter, for I am a node. I am everywhere."

Not quite sure how he expects us to do that. So what's he really saying? We've got letter, subway, node, everywhere.

He told us three Operatives were on the Path, yet he seems to want us to focus on just one. Perhaps this means that the "three Operatives" are really just one person using three different names in hopes that one will make it in. That would probably make his interview pretty hard, but stranger things have been done.

Perhaps there's a certain word that just happens to be spraypainted in every subway that contains the letter he is looking for.  I know I've seen the "AOK" grafitti in nearly every subway I can think of.  The letter in the center would of course be "O".  But I'm probably being too literal.

This sounds like fun.  I'm going to scour the subways tonight and see if I can find anything.

Maybe he's just so bad at creating riddles that he didn't realise how vague that was.  Meh
Title: Merv Threat
Post by: Manic Velocity on October 07, 2005, 10:02:59 am
The only thing I've found is that International has the cleanest subways in the Mega City.  And now that I think about it, the only subway I didn't check was the "Abandoned Subway" exile hideout in Westview.  I'll check that out when I get home.

But I agree with Destyn.  This guy is vague to the point where what he wants us to do just doesn't seem possible.  I get the feeling he's sending us on a wild goose chase.

I just couldn't for the life of me figure out what he was talking about.  I still hold the contention that all that stuff about leaving a letter in a subway was just to lead us around in circles.

The three potentials however... I've noticed an abundance of activity on the bluepill forums lately.  Perhaps it wasn't all a ruse.
