Title: Site problems. Some explination
Post by: likwidtek on November 12, 2005, 07:56:56 pm
Guys... ugh.

Let me tell you this is been FUCKING nutts.  As some of you may or may not host this site and a couple other Guild / Clan site's I have built for friends have been hosted with vizaweb.com.  They used to be a rocking company with little to no problems.  Latley they have had some internal issues and some falling in their ranks and their service soon followed.  Word on the net is that one of the two partners ditched and they have been playing catch up since.  On top of that... there was a nation wide forced cpanel upgrade that fucked up about every webserver running it.

Suffice to say...  They were fucked.  :)

Sooo...  Lately all the issues you have seen...  "Unable to obtain post-info from database!", "Could not obtain forum_name/forum_id", Confirmation emails not being revieved, site emailer nto working... All these things... have been a result of vizaweb.

I've been going to bat for you guys for the past few months and spent hours and hours and hours on the phone, writing emails, and trying to fix issues myself.

In anycase.  I want you all to know that these issues are only temporary and better things ARE to come.  I know those of you who have donated might feel abandoned so this is mostly for you guys.  I'm really working as hard as I can on getting these issues fixed.  Not only for this site but for the other site I run for my World of warcraft guild.  www.hellstormguild.org  You'll notice some wierd bugs there too.

Anyway guys, please please don't loose faith and remember, ALL of you can email vizaweb support when you notice a database bug or something.  Go to www.vizaweb.com for their contact info.  The more emails they recieve the quicker these issues will get resolved.

Hope this clarifies some things for you guys and please please email me or pm me if you have any questions.

Thanks guys!

Christian

ok well... here's an update.

"I am unable to see the root cause of your problem because it is so intermittant.  I would like to move your account to another server as this may fix the problem for you.  There may be another site on unix17 that is causing the overload and I would like to move your account in hopes that this fixes the issue.  If you agree, please let us know and we will begin the move.

Thank you,
VizaWeb Inc."

Yes this would be good.  But remember we are having the same problem on BOTH sites I have hosted with you.  I made a forum post detailing a lot of the issues.  Here is the forum post.

http://vizaweb.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1495

If both sites could be moved and that would fix my problem that would be amazing.  The weird thing is...  is followtheangel.org is on unix5 and hellstormguild.org is on unix17.

If we could move both sites to a fresh WORKING perfectly balanced server that would be beautiful!

PROGRESS!!!

Also have you had any complaints about users on unix5 saying that people's virus alerts go off when visiting their site?

Is it possible to scan unix5 for viruses or rootkits?

Well unix5 is a bad server so i can understand why there would be problems there.  Unix17 has had some intermittant problems.  I would like to move you to unix16 to which we have seen no issues in a very long time.  If this is ok, I can begin the move tonight.

Thank you,
VizaWeb Inc.

ok everything is all fixed.

Just tested it by registering for a new "path"

 ZMF@unix16.vizaweb.com
to cpantle
More options     12:31 pm (0 minutes ago)
cpantle, your registration to the MainFrame is complete. Your password is: EW1FH7 :For security purposes, you will not be able to change your password, so please keep this transmission.

yay!

I would reccomend though... clearing the database of users from the path.  anyone who has registered never got their password and cant reregister because it says that name or email is already taken.

Also the reply address should be specified.  it says  ZMF@unix16.vizaweb.com  it should be changed to @followtheangel.org

Wahoo!

Lithium, get some other people who are having this error as well and get something in detail written up and I'll see what I can do.  I think this has something to do with a session hack I installed but not sure.  If you are the only one that is having this issue I dunno what to tell you.

Thanks for you help and input.

Im with lith still on this one... a whole bunch of new posts were on the board when i first go here about 5 mins ago, clicked to read one of them, then hit the link back to the "Information Stream" and all the nice blue angel icons are white (message have been marked as read) im going to log out of the site when im done, clear the session cookies for www.followtheangel.org and followtheangel.org, and then next time I come by, I'll follow up. :)

Amendment: So back I came all cookies cleared, and I clicked on the new topic in the Information stream, read it, then clicked on "The Furious Angels Forum Index" link (at the top of the page) and where there was previously a new post in the off topic forum it was no longer showing as there being a new topic.

I added a sessions hack a while ago to fix some errors we were getting.

It fixed the error and created a new one.  The new one was more annoying than anything else I guess so *shrug*
