Title: Its time to reflect...
Post by: Anonymous on March 02, 2006, 02:53:58 pm
Who do we follow?  The time is now to make that choice:

I'll post my opinion when I've had time to weigh in on agendas set for Zion and EPN.

I don't think there is a lot of substance behind their crusade.  Feel free to enlighten me, but I thought liberation from the Matrix was allowed since the truce.  What is their selling point, other than paying respect to Neo by doing what is currently being done, but on an extreme level?

In contrast, Morpheus was willing to do whatever it takes to get Neo's remains back, regardless of the possiblity of death to potentionally millions of humans, and we were willing to stand by him through thick and thin.

I'm not yet sure where I stand on all of this.

The question for me is:

Would Morpheus support Michael's "The Kid" path?

I am all for my belief in Neo and I stood by Morpheus to try and help him get his remains back.  In some light I can say that I share similar goals with EPN.

Like you said Jeyk Im still on the fence about who I support.  Lately though I have my second thoughts about Niobe's truce with the General and it could all come back to bite us in the ass should the Commandos turn on Zion.

RP wise it could be a logical choice maybe not the right choice, but thats up to the faction as a whole to decide, its something new and refreshing to take ingame as followers of EPN, but Id like to hear what everyone else thinks.

The thing you have to realize is that Locke is in fact upholding Neo's sacrifice better than Morpheus. If you believe in Neo's sacrifice, then you believe in peace (as he did,) and you should go with Locke. Morpheus is rash and reckless and almost jeopardized Neo's sacrifice; he has nothing to do with Neo.

It's funny how even The Kid is misunderstanding the circumstances. lol

The question is why was Morpheus rash and reckless. Morpheus always had a reason to do what he did, and we never found a complete answer to the activies he engaged in before he died. I have a feeling it has something to do with the Oracle.

Even so, it's funny how The Kid and Morpheus are trying to jeopardize the truce in the name of "Neo's Sacrifice." He sacrificed himself for the truce and all these people are so rash to break it in his name. lol This is how religion gets out of hand.

Morpheus:
Is it right, will I be succesful?

The Oracle:
One doesn't necessarily go with the other, does it?

His last words to the Oracle.

I think Morpheus knew Neo's body was being tampered with.  Why would they not just recycle his body?  I think the Machines are holding something from Zion and I think Morpheus knew this.

Lock was proud Morpheus died and I hold no respect for him.

It's a weak back story and to me doesn't make much sense. Then again, what the writers have done so far doesn't make sense so I guess we're going to have to suck on LESIG's tits for the duration of the game. In that case, I choose Commander Locke because he's the only person that hasn't waivered or made crappy decisions. We owe our allegiance to the citizens of Zion, that means fighting for them, not our own causes and certainly not for the bluepills still plugged in.

Hm.

Really i don't mind either or. To be honest I would like to stay with Zion command, but it is not up to just me.

Nice phrasology Dag, lol :D

imho, The Kid is wrong, we can't force people out of the Matrix.  The Oracle is there to give choice, it's what she does - she's helping people in or out as they choose, who are we to intervene?  We have no right to demand bluepills extract themselves, or choose a side.  I don't think the Kid is right in this case.

I'm with Destyn.  We don't have the right to force people out of the matrix any more than the Cypherites have the right to force people back in.  Let people choose how they live their lives.

I always thought FA was formed to protect Zion.  I don't see how following EPN helps Zion in any way.

The Kid is a kid who hasn't hit puberty yet... how can you follow somebody like that :-).

Actually, it was all the Devs' idea for the "EPN" and "CYPH" tags. LESIG had nothing to do with that.

I met with Keterina the other night and basically they are a "at any cost" type of org.  Kill millions of humans and have a few survive to be free from all machine control.  That would work for them.

Sounds almost like the Cypherite agenda to kill anyone and everyone to reach their cause.  Regardless of my dislike for Lock I am staying Zion, but still support Morpheus.

What do we know about Shimida (http://img473.imageshack.us/img473/8755/screenshot2584rz.jpg)?

As I said in my interview, Morpheus always understood that you couldn't control The Real without controlling the Matrix, and vice versa.  Locke never got that because he's a freeborn, following him is still a dangerous path.

That said, freeing people at random would be absolute chaos.  The Oracle has always sided with Zion in our cause to show people the truth, but there was never any mention of a forced extraction.  Morpheus and Neo wanted people to know they had choice, not to force them to make one.

Shimida is the E Pluribus Neo Controller, in case you guys didn't know. Beyond that, I am uncertain.

Yeah...I say we convince the Kid to join FA and follow us, not the other way around.

You sure he hasn't signed up already?

For all we know he's probably waiting on an interview or something XD

No one is waiting for an interview. No one has completed the challenge in over three months now. It makes me sad.

I believe it is right to uphold Neo's legacy, but the Kid is doing it all wrong.  We should stick with Zion unless a better choice arises. I dislike the commanders of Zion and how they use us to run their missions, but it is true, Locke is the one man who works to maintain the truce which is what Neo died for. To respect Neo is to respect his sacrifice. The only person I would follow other than Zion itself is Morpheus.  It is up to TBone, I'm with him wherever he goes. I think that will be to protect Zion as usual and that is a good choice for now.

The Kid seems like a radicalist stuck in a terrorist mode...  The old saying "A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" seems especially true for him. Neo's sacrifice and Morpheus' death aside, we still have to go about this smartly. This "treaty" is the best we can hope for right now, we can make the most progress in the given situation we have.

Having said that, I will also say that being fairly new, I trust my Commander and my higher ranking officers enough that I will side and support whatever decision they make. I will be loyal to them, before all else, so long as they are loyal to the idea of human freedom.

So, I agree with Adad, I'm with Tbone, and I'll follow the Furious Angels whichever way we should go.

Honestly I'm somewhere in between the beliefs of Zion and EPN.  Zion might be a little too soft but then again EPN is too extreme hehe it all basically boils down to democrat or republican :).  I of course will stay zion, I see no reason to change.

If EPN were only for the destruction of the Cypherite movement, I'd be all for it.
However, they go the next step by freeing minds from the matrix whether or not they're ready/choose to.

We the Furious Angels, among our other duties, already carry the burden of keeping the Cypherites in check. However, we only free those who choose to know the truth.

I'm not sure what else there is to discuss.

Indeed, it's a matter of choice.

Cypherites = no choice
EPN = no choice

It's two extremes in a situation where you don't want to be extreme (sorry Xtreem, nothing personal).  As much as I disagree with the dilly-dallying of the Zion Council and the futile warmongering of Locke, we're left with little other option right now.
