Can someone explain the thinking behind the Angel ranks riddle? I have a bloop asking me questions about it and I'm totally stumped...
-
100 bucks says the "bloop" is Revolver. He's been asking me about the same thing for the past several weeks.
-
Question: The Angels stand in order of ranking. Each head is offered to combine the key. http://home.comcast.net/~phienyx/thedoor_*********.htm
Virtues-Powers-Guardians-Cherubims-Angels-Messengers-Thrones-Healers-Archangels-Enforcers-Seraphims-Principalities-Dominations.
Explanation: The user can find a list of angels rankings according to lore by doing a search. Once they remove the ranks that do not belong and put them in the correct order, the first letter of each rank, in order from highest to lowest can be plugged into the partial URL listed. The url will bring them to a site with the final answer:Seraphim-Cherubim-Thrones-Dominations-Virtues-Powers-Principalities-Archangels-Angels-----http://home.comcast.net/~phienyx/thedoor_sctdvppaa.htm------Final answer: believe
Problem: This is why we shouldn't rely on outside web sources for challenge answers. It seems Phienyx submitted this when he was still in the faction and put up a page on his personal webspace. Once he quit or was removed, he took down the site, so there's no way for the person to find the answer. I removed the question. Either it will just show up blank now or will roll over to a different riddle.
-
good question thought i must say.
-
Aha. Yes it was Revolver. Normally I don't help much with these, I judge whether they are "doable" and then just keep giving them encouragement instead of help - but this one had me.
Cheers guys ;)

Unfogiven is having trouble with the Caesar/Aaron Burr riddle. He has tried letter substitution but apparently that's not working. I wondered if may this was a Caesar's Box, but if it was it wouldn't be in the traditional format.
Any clues as to what to do next? He's tried just about every letter substitution combo.
-
I had this riddle.. Aaron Burr is a Modern Day Caeser... LOOK AT WHO AARON BURR is famous for killing.. :-)
sorry destyn.. american history...
-
Aha, I see. I shall find a way to inform him this has nothing to do with codes or ciphers then....
ahem
-
More specifically.. here is the qoute...
and if the guy isn't american.. or doesn't know anything about american history.. this one is probably over his head..

-
Yeah I think he just went down the wrong path because Caesar is known for his cryptography skills
-
Here we go again....
The architect, whose son fights for his father..... anyone?
-
is this amyl asking the question as he has been asking me? i know the angel he followed was orien if that helps....
-
Yes it is Amyl... unfortunately I have no access to the answers or to see where these guys are on the path, so often I work out the riddle then guide them from there as some of them can be pretty tough (like this one). But it has me stumped :(
-
Is this the full question?
"They slept well, with this particular architect watching. His son lead and protected us, doing so while holding to his father's title."
If so, the answer is Hypnos.
"Myth - god of sleep was Hypnos."
-
well some think that jesus fought for his father....
-
Yeah they tried Jesus too ;) Okay, so I don't know much about Hypnos... guess I need to do some research :D
-
Me again.... now Amyl can't log in, says his username etc not recognized... says he has it right per the registration mail
-
There was an error where several rows of the database where deleted. I will have to fix them manually. I will handle it with communciation on the bluepill forums. Thanks.
-
I got an email from Amyl:
I passed through the last white door (where dreams come true) with the key. It gave me an access code. Where do I use it?
Our interview page still seems to be down. I don't know how to help him.
-
He's screwed until we get our Potential site back up and running. I'm about to strangle Kosila. I saw him browsing and posting on the site, but he didn't reply to my PM at all. I suppose we could give the guy an interview on good faith...
-
he has also been asking me for guidance and was stuck on the truth page; he asked me questions over the last 2 weeks which reflect the fact that he was truly doing the riddles.
-
T, you really need to start taking down phone numbers of key personnel. No you can't have mine. Just kidding ;)
-
I already spoke with the fella via email and verified his code. You are free to interview him at any time.
-
Destyn.. yours is hardcore long distance anyways... easier to use AIM or something to tract you down.. :-D
-
You can always get me on MSN.... unfortunately I only use it at work and so won't respond. You could use AIM, but I don't have it installed........ ummmm.... you could text me :D
-
A former Angel came tp me about this one. Its early in the path. The one about the dl.exe. He knows he has the syntax right but can't figure out the variable. Where in the .txt file is the riddle. He thinks its is on the HTH line. Is he right? It says HTH initializing connection to followtheangel.org the next line talks about an Anomaly in the ISO. I told him that I thought the anomaly in the ISO was standard to this riddle. The former-Angel in question is Apollithenes for you guys that remember him. He's planning on gettiung back into MxO sometime next week. Anyways, let me know what insight I can give to him.
-
I could not find him in the system he must be under some other name.
The riddle should be very obvious. He is probably overthinking it.
-
He is in there with the name LOST... at least that is what I think he put in there... he couldn't use the same name cuz he used to use it there... or something... I am pretty sure he said he was username: Lost
and yeah.. for that matter I am probably overthinking it aswell...
-
Also since he is an older member he should be able to contact Tbone and we can probably get him a code.
-
Yeah.. I told him that.. but he said that since he got in last time in beta before the challenge... this time.. he wanted "to earn it" even after telling him he would still have to be interviewed... I don't know.. I think he finds it fun.. He was always an RPer anyways.. he will probably add it into his RP
-
UPDATE: His user name is Loft. I think he was drunk when he made the name. he's still stuck, and I dont have any answers for him.
-
I just looked it up. It is a very obvious answer once you get it. All I can say :)
-
It is really obvious but many bloops screw up by adding additional characters - there should only be numbers.
Aside from that, password reset for: verdi@utzone.de please
-
I reset that password yesterday.
-
Ahh okay, just saw it this morning when I woke up ;)

Homina is having issues with the search function. Claims to have no clues, and so is entering "Furious Angels" which is returning I:45,-150. If this is in fact right (similar searches return the same result) then the coords are incomplete. If it's wrong, which I think it is, where will Homina find the clue as to what to search for?
-
If I remember these riddles right
I = International
45 = X coordinate
-150 = Z coordinate
Once she gets there she'll have to figure out what it is that's important.
-
Yep, but it's missing a "Y" coordinate... so it's hard to know where to be ;)
-
the Y coordinate is unimportant
-
If that's the case, then the X doesn't make sense since the Int'l coords run from about 340 something...
-
No, I'm right at the spot. There's a sign there, when looking directly North, says "Good Luck".
-
Which district?
-
International I believe.....
*rocks out to wolfmother*
-
my location was right beside a sign (on the floor) which showed which district I was in. It was not international I dont think.
-
Homina's was right near Brown Field, in Kaede.
-
Got it, thanks for the help guys :)
-
"They delivered a package to Thomas Anderson. This information was obtained through a listentrem. We are sure it is the password, but we do not know the user name"
I talked with this bloop and he told me all the different answers he tried and still wasn't getting it right. It seems to me the answer is FedEx, but apparently that doesn't work. He is also sure of the username (Orien I think). I'm asking more for myself because the answer seems logical and that there can't be any other one.
-
Thats the answer Dag, I know cause I looked it up and made that question. He mustn't be inputting the userame correctly. If you tell me the guys name I can look him up specifically, send me a PM.
-
Nice avatar, Lith!
-
what macgyver episode is that!
-
No idea
-
heh that was the question i had
