I've never played an MMO before and so i have a question. If after having the account and everything for a while you get a new computer, it is possible to switch over your same account and not have to completely start over, correct?
-
Yes it is possible.I am pretty sure you can access your account from any computer.
-
Okay, good. Cos that wud really suck if u cudnt.
-
All your account/character info is kept on the game servers. You just have to install the game and what ever patches there are on each machine.
-
Yup Yup I agree with Contaminated. That would suck if so, I saw this really nice gaming laptop from Dell - I think for like $2,139 and I want it bad. I think I'ma get it!!!
-
Ewsa, Dell is bad for yuz! Stick with customs.
-
or go alienware or falcon northwest....
-
Alienware charges too much.
-
I forget where it was but I saw this article involving an Alienware rig. They bought one and then made an identical computer and ran tests and the difference was very small (big surprise)
-
What is that suppossed to mean? And besides wud it cost more or less for a custom - and would my hardware be as good?
Also i'm not like the "best" when it comes to hardware, so if anyone could gimme some help thatd be appreciated!!!! :D
-
alienware=coslty computers because:
1. They look so damn cool.
2. Its prepackaged. Youre not getting any better parts than you could get custom.
customs computers will usually cost less, but you have to figure in that if you dont know computers, youll have to get some guy to build it for you. Im getting a custom comp for 1500:
AMd Athlon 64 FX (not quite sure of ghz)
256 mb ATI Radeon 9800 pro AGP
Dual 512 mb RAM sticks
17' flatscreen
160 gb HD
And to top it all off...the guy(who since ive known for like, 10 years, is getting me this at a looooooooooot less than it would normally cost) is making it modded for me. Its gonna be a fridge....with a little place for a soda or two. Its gonna be taking 2 powerslots though. That sucks.
Now that im done bragging, look in the off topic section, I believe, and there in the stickys is a topic all about building a custom.
-
yah alienware, AWESOME gaming computers, but only if u want to drop 3-5k dollars.....lame.
my comp is dell, and it only cost me a litlte over 1000 and it kicks ass, 80gig hard drive, with my old 120 :) gig ram, radeon 9800 pro, dont remember what sound i got, prob generic. lol. umm forgot what else is in my comp at the moment. lol okk later

Don't get me going on alienware, they charge 1K - 2K more than its worth. The cases are dead ugly, and if you wanted an ugly pos case like that well here, http://xoxide.com/zalien.html close enough to one. Anyone who buys an alienware has not done their research, stay as far away as possible. I can water cool my pc on top of it for cheaper than an alienware, btw.
-
if youre going to buy a pre made computer for gaming, i recomend falcon northwest. Tehy are by far my favorite computer company. Although theyre cheaper than alienware, theyre still are probably more expensive than if you made it custom. actually, making anything custom will be cheaper than a pre made computer, so theyres really no point in arguing. Or at least any computer worth having is cheaper custom made.
-
Falcon Northwest charges a lot too....
-
just jump on www.newegg.com and shop till you drop :)
-
Oy....I feel so confused.
-
I'm not going to buy a premade comp because I know how to build them and plus with me building my own I'll know exactly what's inside including software. So when a problem occurs, I'll know what I need to fix and besides the way I'm going to build mine it's going to run like an ice box.
-
When figuring cost for a custom PC, should you figure in the cost of an OS, or do they usually come preinstalled in the hard drives.
-
usually, if you get a guy to build it for you it gets installed. if it doesnt, u got gipped.
-
Once again I repeat Oy - Why must I be so dumb at computers. As soon as my slow connection finishes d/l America's Army I promise to learn much more about comps, building them and the equipment and all of that stuff. I'm sick and tired of ppl saying stuff and me just nodding my head and smiling and laughing. I feel really retarded when i do that, and I do *not* like that feeling.
Anywayz yeah if anyone wants to help me in this endevaor please hit me up.
-
If you are building it your self you should plan on buying an OS. The guy that builds it for you has to come up with a COA, and that i'm sure is figured into the cost unless stated otherwise. Even in bulk oem prices COA's for W2K or XP Pro are not cheap enough to just throw in.
I don't mind answering questions Eclipse. Send some PM's on what you need help with :)
-
Yeah, OS's aren't cheap. That's my problem right now. No OS, and now money to buy a new OS. Sux for me.
