Title: Any military, or ex-military officers here?
Post by: Fuse on August 24, 2006, 12:44:24 pm
I'm just curious if there are any military officers in FA. I am preparing to submit a package in about a year for a pilot slot through OTS and despite all the information and advice I have from others, I'm always looking for more views and opinions (and LOR too!).

I was a radar tech onboard an S-3 Viking antiSub aircraft. I might be able to answer some questions.

I have a close friend who is a 3 star general in the marine core and also a close relative who is a Captain in the Airforce flying F16's... Actually I think he may have bumped up a rank.  If you can let me know what your questions are I can ask him

I'm not exactly sure what my specific questions are, as most of them have been answered. I guess I'm just still looking for advice and trying to answer the "is it worth it?" question. I have a very well paying job, yet I hate it. A military pilot career has been on my mind and giving me the gut turning feeling when I think about it for years. A 16 would be my first choice, but I certainly wouldn't be locked into a fighter. I think what I really would like is to talk in person with a few pilots and check out a base or two to get a better idea of the daily grind.

So is this captain willing to have a few drinks bought for him and offer a LOR? =)
