Title: Private Channel
Post by: Tbone on September 29, 2006, 04:41:19 pm: I've had several of you do this recently, which is why I'm making a post about this. I've noticed a lot of you sneaking into the private channel while two or more people are in there.

The reason why the channel isn't passworded or moderated is because I assume all of you have the respect and courtesy to stay out of the channel when you see people in it. In the description of the channel it says "Please respect others and do not enter this channel unless asked."

It makes you look very suspicious when you try to sneak in there and makes me quickly lose respect for you. If we continue to have problems, I'll have to password or moderate the channel so that no one can use it unless an SA grants it.

However, correct protocol is to send a text message on TS to the person or channel to ask if it is ok. In the time it takes between you entering the channel and finding a break in the conversation to ask if it is ok if you can be there is enough time to hear a lot of stuff someone might rather you not hear.

The point of the Private channel is so that you DON'T get people jumping in the channel and asking questions. If you don't get the word that it is ok to enter BEFORE entering, don't join the channel. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to password it or something...

Post by: Manic Velocity on September 30, 2006, 08:23:54 am: I was pulled in to the Private channel a couple nights ago almost as soon as I logged on to TS. When I spoke up, I was moved out, then moved back in a few seconds later.

Hope I wasn't a bother. :\

Post by: Subb on September 30, 2006, 01:23:59 pm: I haven't done it when someones been in there (I don't think) buuuut it's really easy when you're switching to the jacked in channel. I sometimes switch to the private one.
