dude post screen shots and details.  I've gotta see this.

After MXO (no offense) I have been convinced that any movie based mmo is bound to die.

mxo and swg are very good examples of this.

If I can get Fuse to re-open up some FTP access for me then I'll post some pics and vids, so long as its bloody secure. I just read every word of the NDA.

If fuse isn't hosting anymore, I can give you some space.

I have plenty of space as well if you want something.  But just have lith setup something on the site.

Sounds good! The servers crank up for the public beta tomorrow at noon. I'll frap my initial logging-in/character creation stuff.
Title: Re: LOTRO
Post by: Lithium on December 13, 2006, 04:38:57 pm
I'd prefer not to put content under NDA directly on this server. I don't mind links to the material if they are on a 3rd party server.

Talauntiar - Brandywine - Level 17 Champion

There's also no more NDA so we're OK to post stuff, Sared.

Ive been in beta for a little while but i cant keep in it, the game makes me frustrated and slam my fist on my desk and have panic attacks yet I keep wanting to give it another try.

How come?
Title: LOTRO
Post by: Avzeke (Khr0n1k) on February 26, 2007, 05:58:43 pm
cause i think that maybe it could be a good game it just is one of those games that you gotta work at and has a steep curve of understanding.

Or why it frustrates me? Well I dunno, I don't get frustrated easily but I think it is a little bit of how it is so much like wow yet not as convenient to operate as wow if you know what I mean, I don't think that makes sense, and yes I do like wow.

Post by: Avzeke (Khr0n1k) on February 27, 2007, 06:07:00 pm
man thats alot for me to go through and im not really anywhere of interest right now, so maybe someone who is higher lvl and has access to upload it and compress it can. Honestly graphically to me it doesn't really stand out. And I hate the character animations they are all stiff and not very realistic movement, plus jumping is really awkward looking specially if you are just jumping around.
Title: LOTRO
Post by: Adad on February 27, 2007, 06:22:27 pm
I think the world is incredible, very well done.  The animations aren't great but there are a ton of things to do and check out in the world.  Very different than MxO

Oh and im not comparing it to mxo im just comparing it to what i think a game should be in this day and age.

hmm cant get a pic of the eye can you? lol or does it not exist in the game... not sure when the time setting of the game is.
Title: LOTRO
Post by: Adad on March 01, 2007, 10:13:52 am
The game takes place in the first movie, for instance Aragorn is Called Strider when you first go to him to begin your real story quests.  No, you cannot go to the eye because that land will not be open in the release (Mordor i think).  The map is simply one part of the middle-earth land.  At least 5 more are going to be opened with expansions I assume as the story progresses.  Even though only one is open, though, the land is enourmous!  However when you enter places of evil I guess is the best explaination of it, the eye will like flash on ur screen like it's calling to u or something, very cool effect.  Plus, Pirus you may appreciate this, if you go into a tavern for instance, u can buy various beers and wines and the more u drink the more drunk u get.  The effects are amazing, the picture slowly turns black and white, and more and more hazy and the camera sways different ways so its hard to walk.  Very nice little feature.

Yup, only one month left of play...  The sweet thing is, though most probably have preordered, if you preorder you get nearly a month of play before the game gets on shelves and they keep your character.

I don't know if you or Ana care to know this BUT, you'll be able to carry your chars over (up to 10-15 chars I think) once the game actually releases.

I got invited to the beta... but I played the stress test and to be honest I wasn't that impressed. It's a decent game don't get me wrong... Just feels too much like all the other fantasy mmo's out there.

Yes sub, it's a monthly pay.  If you preorder tho u can either just pay $10 a month instead of 15, or pay $200 for a lifetime subscription

$200 for a life-sub (no pun intended) aint bad at all!

It's a pretty "okay" game, I got into beta and played for acouple days ... wasn't that impressed with the game. Hopefully, it'll get better and more interesting as the game progresses.

$200 for a sub on a game based on a franchise?  My first thought was hell no, then I remembered how long I've been playing MxO for.... hmm...

Post by: Anamodiel on April 28, 2007, 04:27:48 pm
I was going to, but then I didn't. I even won 150 dollars which would have paid for most of the subscription, but then my bank statement came in and showed me how much I had spent on gasoline in the last month: 110 dollars (plus about 50 dollars at Abercrombie...). That put me down to about 530 dollars in my account, and I have to save half, according to my dad. I'm pretty sure that I'm getting a job this summer, but I just couldn't justify spending 200 dollars (or even a 10 dollars a month sub) on a game that would just take away from MxO.

Hmmm...I just dont' think I can get into yet another fantasy MMORPG with more wizards, ogres, rangers, trolls, elves....etc...etc.

LOTR or not, I think there are about 25 too many games out there like that already and for some gawd awful reason, they keep putting out more.

Now if game play is somehow innovative and new and there is more depth to this one than in most others, I may give it some consideration.  So far, I'm not hearing any rave reviews.
