Post by: Anonymous on March 27, 2007, 06:10:38 am
Jeyk2k**: X06 was pretty sweet. Jeyk2k**: I think that's what it was called, anyway. splashing Ink: Yeps. splashing Ink: Yeah. Jeyk2k**: Sony should have one... Jeyk2k**: And here's how they should run it Jeyk2k**: You walk up to the door, and buy a $300 ticket splashing Ink: lol Jeyk2k**: After getting the ticket, they slap you in the face and kick you in the nutes Jeyk2k**: Nuts* Jeyk2k**: At the SAME TIME splashing Ink: And then what? Jeyk2k**: And tell you that MGS4 just went multiplatform splashing Ink: HAH! Jeyk2k**: And lock the door. splashing Ink: lol
I figured you guy who know how Sony's been working would appreciate this. Oh, and this video is funny for this topic.

Just out of interest, what is the killer app that's throwing PS3s off the shelves? Or is it just because it's a known quantity?

As far as I know, there's nothing here that's throwing PS3's anywhere. You can find these things at any store, and you alway find at least five in one spot. Hell, last time I was at Best Buy here, I walked past a stack of at least 20.
Here, it's the Wii no one can find. :D

I heard rumors that they were going to release a version without the Blu-ray, to lower costs, but aren't all their games on Blu-ray format?
I definitely want one, but I'd have to go with the 20GB model and pocket the extra $100.

I remember that commercial. :) Played during the Super Bowl the year that the PS2 was being released.
Oh, and it's funny. On SouthFloridaRacing.com (Another forum I frequent), someone started a comparison thread today. http://www.southfloridaracing.com/forums/showthread.php?p=828506#post828506 Everyone on those boards is an X-Box 360 fanboy. I believe my post is the only unbiased one. I don't have either console, yet. :D

I'm trying not to be a fanboy either way. I had a PS and loved it, and got the PS2 shortly after it came out then later on got an Xbox and enjoyed it more because it had a hard drive and excellent hacking capabilities. I got a Gamecube but was never particularly impressed by Nintendo since the SNES.
Right now my 360 is giving me HD movies and quality gaming well before the PS3 got on the scene, as well as an online service I knew worked and I enjoyed using (well, mostly, you can always have too many screaming kids though) - I remember the horror stories of the PS2 service (they allowed 56k? WTF?) The 360 can be hacked easily, if I want to, and I can stream all kinds of crap through it using TVersity with no problem. PS3 will offer me only what Sony wants me to have, and I'd have been paying for a hard drive I'd hardly use if I were to actually buy one. Media streaming to/from my PSP? Don't think so. I only need one to watch hi-def movies that some publishers won't be releasing on HD-DVD and play Final Fantasy.
Then again, Home might change my opinion. Sony is doing way too little way too late though imho, MS had already given the HD era a boost and ridden it out well - Sony just don't have the attachment rate on Blu-ray now that standalone players have already been out for a while.

I don't want to say I'm a fanboy per se, but I think I'm slowly becoming one against my will. I just don't like Sony's marketing and approach with the PS3 thus far, but I'm sure in a year's time everything will iron out.
I've been happy with the 360, especially since Sony exclusives are going multiplatform one by one (GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry 4, and there's talks of FFXIII doing the same as well http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/finalfantasy13/news.html?sid=6167864&om_act=convert&om_clk=newlyadded&tag=newlyadded;title;1 ).
I prefer multiplatform titles for the ease of only concerning myself with one system, but I'm sure that I'll wind up owning all 3 of the big boys as time goes on.

I have a feeling that this game is going to be on the 360, also Square-Enix is developing Project Slypheed(Slyph) which is a Sci-Fi space shooter of some sort, so they're not shy about making games for the 360.
Square-Enix does not want to make anything exclusive. This is evident by the cell phone version of their games, one of which will be FF Agito 13.
But yeah I'm not expecting anymore good FF games, everyone is quitting Square-Enix or doing projects elsewhere. The guy who created the franchise and worked on all of them has his own thing going on along with the composer for the Final Fantasy games(one of which is Lost Oddyssey)..He's also working with Akira Toriyama, who's worked on the uber sweet Dragonquest series and created that DBZ thing, so they're going to be the ones to contend with.
