Title: Dagonet's new mic setup

I'm using a desktop stand (http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1886&brandID=2) instead of a boom stand, but otherwise you get the gist of what I've got going now. My pop filter won't arrive until Tuesday :-(

Holy crap.  I'm actually really jealous.  Takes me back to my amateur radio days.

I was considering getting the C01U as well when I started looking for mics for the internet radio stuff back in the day. I read a lot of mixed reviews, you'll have to let me know how you like it.

I went with the StudioProjects C1. Pricey, but not crazy, and a great mic.

I'm guessing you guys do DJ work?

I am actually interested in getting into voice over work.  I've done some amature v.o. for "The Movies" community for a few community made movies.  Fun stuff.  I need a good mic.

I use to DJ for RFZ/AWR/YarRadio/MMORadio. Now I'm "Radio Manager" for midwest-edm.com even though we haven't gotten things started quite yet...

Cool.  People have told me that I should go into radio, but I just don't have the gift of gab like some poeple do.  Its probably mostly nerves and I'd get over it, but anyway.....

I did have my own radio show when I was with "The Movies" community which was hosted by a member who had a online radio station just for the community, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.  I just ran out of time to put shows together for each week.  I had fun doing the shows though.

What would be fun is to put together an old fashioned radio play using voice acting from FA members.  I might even be able to put together something in The Movies for this as well.....but that's an whole different subject.

Nice mic set up.
:-)

My motivation was twofold. First, I'm an audiophile (snob really), and I'm that guy that notices the difference between an RealTek AC 97 sound card and a Creative Audigy 2 sound card. In this case it was a Samson C01U versus my previous Logitech Desktop Mic (Though the Logitech mic was better than the built in mic my laptop came with). In addition I use Sony MDR-V700 headphones the majority of the time, which is probably why I pick up little audio nuances.

Secondly, I was thinking of doing some podcasting in the future and I was suckered in by the packaging of my microphone that had a sticker saying "Perfect for Podcasts!" ^_^

And Fuse so far I'm loving my mic, though one thing I didn't notice before was how loud my laptop fans were. Granted the mic is only about a foot away from my laptop, I just never realized how much it picked up until I did some test recordings to play with settings. So yeah until I rearrange where my laptop is, you guys will have to put up with the hum in the background :-p

wow, that's great. I went with the C1 and a board for a lot more money because I wasn't sure about the whole USB for audio thing. I should trust it, but I'm an audio purist I guess. =)

I guess my response to that is, this was technically my first venture into a higher quality setup, so to be honest, I didn't even really consider the various types of interfaces for a mic (long way of saying I'm a n00b). I was more concerned with how the microphone would pick up raw sound, and this was a monumental leap over my previous mics :-p

BTW someone hop on TS and listen to my seckseh voice! (actually I need to test volume levels)

You better be thinking of doing voice work soon in the guise of TBone for my movie, haha.

Also, with that mic Dag, I'm gonna have to make your part bigger in the rest of the srcipt... Now if we could just save Sati so the sky is fixed and I can continue to shoot...

I have like 3 audio inputs, one output to speakers, and 2 output to software that it took me hours to tweak and get just right. When I reformat I'm going to have to do it all again...

=(

Yeah, I wish. It'd be nice for my voice to sound like my voice instead of whatever crap ends up in the final product...haha. Gonna have to mess with SoundForge.

And Adad...you know better than that. How long have the helicopters been flying around and dropping propaganda about the Merv? You're screwed.

God damn, I did not know that!  I always thought your voice was familiar!  Used to listen to RFZ/AWR all the time!  Learn something new everyday.
