Title: Beta Test: SOE's The Agency
Post by: Tbone on June 22, 2007, 02:56:46 pm
SOE has a new MMO in development called The Agency. It's a spy-themed MMO. If there's anything I obsessed about like I do the Matrix it was James Bond, so this may be right up my alley as well. Yeah, it's SOE, but then we can get a station pass, right? Anyway, it might still be a long way from Beta, but it would be nice to get our foot in the door early. Anyway, from their site they say to send an email to jointheagency@soe.sony.com . I already sent one on behalf of FA, though they may just be using it to generate an email database to send updates on the game to. Anyway, I encourage everyone to send an email with the title "Confidential: New Recruit from Furious Angels".

Plus we have Broin, so havinig a real secret agent can only improve our gameplay skills for this one.

Does anyone know if PS3 and PC users will be able to play together?  If so, I'd like to get this for PS3.

Not final yet, but hopes are looking up. PC Gamer with the Penny Arcade front has a preview article on it.

yea, they are thinking about interacting between both platforms, but are not set on it.  Good article here:

I dunno im pretty skeptical about this game. It looks cool but I don't know about it being able to keep people entertained content wise, looks like an mmo that you could go through all the missions and then be left with only pvp....like another game we know.

True. Competitive missions could be promising, though.

I think MxO has set the bar on my expectation for MMO graphics.  The Agency looks like a "Cloak and Dagger" mod for Second Life.  :S

Apparently a Knights of the Old Republic MMO is in development... even though there is already a Star Wars MMO

SWG does not fucking count. Piece of shit. Piece of shit devs.

E-mail sent. We would fall on the U.N.I.T.E side of the equation right?

Email sent.

it does look promising...... given the content is geared toward the thinking player.  The problem I find with most MMOs is that they dumb it down to the point that the only factor that determines difficulty is the extent of the mindless tedium.  I personally find that if the content of a game does not challenge me mentally or have enough meaningful depth, it will become tiresome very quickly.  I want to think about how I'm going to accompllish my mission, and I'm not just talking about what order I'm going to string my attacks together in either.

LOL..I would have to mirror Sared's comment on SWG.  The original concepts in SWG set the bar for me for MMOs....then came the Dev meddling.....

Anyway.  I think we'd need operatives on both sides of the equation.  Once in a while, when the shit hits the fan, you'll need the big guns to come do some clean up. :-)
