... is due to the fact that I'm currently trying to build an 11-second car to compete in Buschur Racing's 15th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout.
What is a DSM, you ask?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond-Star_Motors
Basically, all 1990-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipses, 1990-1997 Eagle Talons, and 1990-1994 Plymouth Lasers.
What is an EVO?
A Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
What is the Shootout?
It's a big racing event. My buddy Will said it best when he said "It's like the DSM pilgrimage to Mecca."
When and where?
It's in Norwalk, Ohio at the Norwalk Raceway Park. The actual event is on Sunday, August 19th. On Saturday, August 18th, Buschur will be giving a tour of their Ohio facility.

What are you trying to do?
I'm trying to make my car as fast as physically possible while still abiding by the DSA (DSM Stock Appearing) class rules. I plan on winning DSA. :D
All of my available time and money right now is being invested into the car to make it into a beast. :) And believe me when I say it's going to take all my available time. On top of building the car, I also have to get in a lot of track time to get myself adjusted to everything we are doing, and also to perfect my track techniques. I've become used to running what's called a "Sportsmen" starting tree. At the shootout, they will be using a "Pro" starting tree... It's a damn pain in the ass.
Anyone in the Ohio area on those dates should come out and show their support. :)

this thread is worthless without pics!

Hey good luck....
Fuse is right...post some pics when you get a chance, or a video clip would be nice to :D
-
There isn't really much to see. The whole point of the DSA class is to keep the car as close to stock appearing as possible. :) I have also strayed away from taking pictures as we (myself and the group of friends involved), are trying to keep this build under-the-radar. :D
The most recent picture I have is...
That was right after I had installed a TRE (www.teamrip.com) Stage 2 built transmission, and reinstalled my front mount intercooler. Since this picture, both the spoiler and the front bumper cover have been installed. For the Shootout, I also had to reinstall the stock airbox. I have upgraded the injectors from the stock 450cc injectors to 950cc injectors. I also installed a Walbro 255lph high pressure fuel pump. I've got a few more things to do to get the car where it needs to be. Mainly, a larger turbocharger, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a higher profile set of cams, a 1990-1994 (1st Generation DSM) throttle body, and a few other things that are escaping me right now. There is no nitrous use allowed, but there are no restrictions on methane/propane-injection use. There are also no restrictions on which fuels you may use.
I will take some new photos, as well as obtain the video from the Sport Compact Challenge I competed in this past Saturday.

It's actually fairly easy to make a 4G63-powered DSM fast. :) 4G63-powered DSMs would be the FWD Eclipse GS-Ts, Talon TSis, and Laser RSs, and the AWD Eclipse GSXs (What I have), Talon TSi AWDs, and Laser RS AWDs. :)
I told you I would get you guys updated pictures... Sadly they come in the form of these... :(

Early this morning, around 1:00AM, I was driving home from my girlfriend's house. I was tired, and dozed out behind the wheel. I wake up, and I'm coming up on a car stopped at a stop light. Couldn't stop quickly enough and well.... That's the damage. His Toyota Camry didn't look nearly as bad. No visible damage at all, in fact. My car is low, so I kind of slid under his bumper, more than I impacted it. I feel horrible, and not for the car, but because I knew I shouldn't have driven home because I was tired, and I risked other people's lives. I'm just glad the guy wasn't hurt. Now the fun begins with insurance. His insurance coming after mine, mine coming after me, etc. :( Looks like I will no longer be going to the Shootout.

aww damn man that sucks. I hope everything works out ok for ya and even still good luck on the 11 sec car ... when ever that might happen.
-
How much damage was done to the body, or is it purely cosmitic?
-
That's too bad, teck. I hope that everything works out alright for you...
Good luck with the insurance, too!

how did my wife get near your car?

how did my wife get near your car?
Nocry I have your address and will post that to your house.... how much is your life worth?
:D

Well, dealing with the insurance wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. They inspected the car today, wrote up what needed to be repaired, said it was going to be $1100 in repairs. Wrote me a check (minus my $500 deductible) which should be here Monday or Tuesday. Luckily, the ex-husband of someone who works for my mom owns a body shop. I went by there yesterday to talk to him, and have him check out the car. Hopefully the car will be back to looking good soon. :)
Pirus and Ana, thank you.
Eroz, the radiator support was pushed in. It needs to be pulled, and squared.
Nocry, LOL.
And Subb, that's mean dude! ROFL.

awww.. Tecknik... I'm so sorry. That really sucks major you-know-what. I'm glad you can get it taken care of though!
And NoCry.... that's cold.... really really cold, lol
-
Looks like you hit a crub, 2 brick and a fence..lol
**Extra points to anyone who catches that reference**
-
The car is now at the body shop and should be there till mid-week. Hopefully it will come back looking better than it did before. :)
-
Well, I got the car back today. Exactly three weeks after dropping it off.

It needs a starter. Somehow the starter died between me dropping it off, and picking it up.
Had to push-start the car just to get it home. But I'm happy to have it back. :D
-
nice glad its fixed.
-
Sared approves of this car.
-
Is that an El Camino behind it?
-
It's a nice color, but a little small for my tastes.
-
Pirus - Me too!
Sared - Thanks? LoL
Lits - Yes, it is. :)
Destyn - Barcelona Red Pearl Metallic! And it's really not as small as it looks in the pictures.
-
yes its an el camino and I knew he was a Chevy junky at heart :) Chevy ftw
