Well over the weekend my computer decided to take another nose dive. I don't know what the hell is wrong with the damn thing... I've been through two power supplies, two sets of hard drives, something else, and now it appears my motherboard is blown.
Looks like I'm going to be out of commission all this week until I get my new stuff in. I also am going to be gone next week on a family vacation. So I'll I won't be around until that last week of November, Crosses fingers.
Sorry guys... :2'(
-
Been wondering what happened to you. :P
-
I hope your computer feels better!!
-
That sucks, Broin. :(
What kind of motherboard?
-
sorry to hear that old boy.
-
Add another inactive member to the list haha
-
GL Broin... you know there is a thing called a surge protector....
-
Geez, you have worse luck than I do. I finally had some free time and logged in game for a bit tonight. Bell and I messed around in those white hallways, but we really just needed one more hacker...tsk tsk.
-
Broin, look into getting a "line conditioner". If your problems turn out to be power related a line conditioner will not only act as a surge protector but make sure your power coming to your pc is clean and filtered, it'll also make sure there are not spikes nor drags in your power.
-
Yeah, Broin plugged in his vibrator again and it caused a power spike throughout the entire house.
-
Line conditioner aye... I think I'll have to look that up because something is seriously going on down here. I have a huge surge protector this one here

So where do I find a good line conditioner?
I know just when I get everything all set up the way I like it something always goes to crap :'(
The motherboard is an Asus so I guess I need to go and look one up on newegg... I guess the best thing about this is I have a new computer guy. The other one I wasn't so happy with so... I let him know my displeasure.

and he was last seen floating down a river somewhere (I think the Hudson river although, other than the mississsippppioiii river, I know of no other rivers in USA)
-
Motherboard replacement suggestions anyone? Asus is what I had I'm assuming I need to stick with that to keep my dual Nvidia dreams alive...? I'm using OCZ platinum edition DDR ram. I mean I guess it's DDR... pc3200 1024MB EL Dual Ch Platinum Edition 2-3-2-5 or some such...
Would getting two more stick of RAM be worthwhile since I'm upgrading anyways?
-
Its a lot more important you get a motherboard that accepts your processor and pin configuartion of the processor...
-
aww comeo n Nocry what about the great Colorado river? (the one that carved out the grand canyon)
-
Alright folks all my parts arrived...
Asus M2n32-SLI deluxe wireless edition motherboard
AMD Athlone 64x2 6000 3.0G AM2 2x1mr (whatever all that means)
Corsair Twin2x2048-6400c3df r
dual GeForce 7900 GTX 512 MB
I've got my new computer guy coming over tomorrow evening to put it all together for me. He of course understands that the last guy didn't do to well so he told me he'd make sure it all words in... what did he say now... "perfect and glorious digital harmony"
Yeah, I didn't tell him that if it doesn't he's gonna be disappeared...
Figured I'd break that news to him after he gets it all going.
LOL anyways with luck you'll see me around tomorrow night.
-
Damn man, nice setup. What kind of Power Supply are you getting for that?
-
You've got the non-mobile version of my graphics card...well, and dual...I just have one GeForce Go 7900 GTX 512 MB...heh

Does this mean that we'll start filming a new movie soon? :D
-

....good to have you back :D
-
Damn man, nice setup. What kind of Power Supply are you getting for that?
SilverStone Strider 850W power supply...
And unless some miracle happens my computer guy says he can't come out and help me put it together until Sat. afternoon....
It's killing me I have all this shit laying around and I know that there is a computer in there, somewhere. I just don't know how to get from boxes to the final outcome :(
-
welcome to my world...
-
Lets just throw the whole you cant teach an old dog new tricks phrase out the window here and get your buddy to teach you how to put it together. You wont have to worry about this again :) It's not that hard Im confident you can do it :) Hell I taught saf how to do it over the phone lol.
-
and subby can do it also...
hammer + coffee + cpu components = sortedddd!
-
to be honest.. if you have a good motherboard asus evga.. ect.. then the book that comes with it basically tells you everything you need to know step by step on how to put it all together.
-

yeah its sad I have been a loyal AMD guy for quite sometime now as they have always had better gaming processors ... atleast as of late. Now i will be getting a C2D since amd hasn't moved fast enough and came out with something that can compete with it. What a sad day time this is. I hope amd comes back with something.. I would hate for intel to wipe amd out. If that were to happen there is no competition which means no rush on new parts and the prices of the processors can be whatever intel wants them to be... Rant over.

Assembling it isn't the issue. The issue is troubleshooting it when you're trying to install software and it's throwing out random errors. Are you offering Broin your phone number to walk through it Pirus? ;)
-
HMM... yep caller id, phone hacking devices all locked and loaded.

Don't tempt me....
On a downer side I got the system all hooked up and hit the button to turn it on... NADA!!! The dude was like WTF! I was like DUDE WTF!!! He was like dude I don't know... I was like Dude you better f'n know!!! He was like dude I'll take it to my shop... I was like dude I'm giving you 48 hours then I'm coming for your head.... He was like Dude I need witness protection. I was like dude you'll need more than that...
*Went on like that for awhile*
Suffice it to say no system yet for me but he thinks he'll have it figured out soon....
-
Like damn dude unlucky

Broin+Computers=Disaster
-
Guess he shorted the board then. How well qualified is this guy supposed to be?
-
Making and fixing computers is what this guy does for a living. The 'shop' he took it to is his business.... So I'm pretty sure he knows what he is doing.
I think it's the f'n powersupply or the little damn button that turns the computer on.
The powersupply I have now is under warranty and the damn button is probably like a 15 dollar fix so I spent tons of money getting a whole new system when I probably could've spent between 0-15 $
LOL.... I think I'm going to go over in the corner of the room and cry now

And this guy didn't tell you this in the first place, BEFORE you bought all of your stuff? o.O
-
I don't think we really know what's wrong with it. He was sure the motherboard was blown on it.
When it was originally dead he hooked up a secondary power supply and got nothing. He spent almost two hours working on the damn thing to initially diagnoss the motherboard problem.
Don't get me wrong the guy is really pretty smart at this stuff I'm just a bit miffed that I've been without my system for so long. I need to get in game and curb some of my MXO killing urges :D
I'm sure he'll have it all figured out soon.

Does the mobo have a light on it? Most modern ones do, and it will come on unless the board is burnt out. Many times in the past decade I've fitted a board only to find I had a loose screw sitting in the case below it, shorting it out...
