Title: Meeting / Interview Sunday
Post by: Broin on March 13, 2008, 08:16:42 pm
I'd like to set up a meeting this Sunday to get people together to discuss a few things.

First the State of the Faction thread.  It's nice to type things up in the thread but it may be a good idea for everyone to get together on TeamSpeak and hash a few things out and put all the ideas on the table.

Second we do have an interview scheduled for this Sunday at 9:00 EST time with Kafyn.  Now that time may be a bit late for many of our Euro players so maybe we can get together a bit before the interview time to hang out in game and talk a few things out.

With that said I am not going to be available until about 7:00 or 7:30  FA time this Sunday.

So if you can make it this Sunday at about 7:30 FA time that'd be great we can all get together and discuss a few things....

Last of which would be the new FA movie that I have running around in my head.

I'll be there

*Side Note: Time just went forward an hour. Does the FA clock automatically move forward or do we need to manually do it? I used to be 1 hr ahead now I'm 2. Just thought I'd mention it.

I'll be in Chicago, so there's also the possibility I'll be out on the town.

My God, I was taking a trip down memory lane and looking at some of our past movies, and I watched this again.

Jesus, look how far we've come in terms of video quality. I am so excited for the new potential video!

The meeting was very successful. A good portion of our members signed on for it, and Tbone was even able to make it.

While I did record the entire discussion, it is long and we overlapped on many issues many times over. Therefore, I will summarize here.

The original purpose of the meeting was to discuss the State of the Faction.

We originally summarized why we were at this point, highlighting much of what we had already discussed in yotogi's thread and the State of the Faction thread itself. After some more talking and discussion about how MXO is lacking, we established that The Agency will most likely be our next major game that we will take part in (if you have any other suggestions, of course, we are very open). No one was able to voice many qualms about the game, and most everyone at the meeting was pretty excited for the game, too. However, we also decided, just because we were going to begin focusing on The Agency, that didn't mean that we were going to leave MXO.

Furthermore, The Agency will be a massive undertaking on our part. Currently, there is no Community centered around the Agency. Someone suggested creating a public community forum solely for meeting other people interested in The Agency, and, with that, we decided that it would be a good idea to have a form of recruitment, either through a similar challenge or an entirely new method of interviewing potentials. In the same way, we would have to create the new website solely for The Agency. Also, we want to have this all ready by the time that the Agency forums are activated so that we can hit the ground running in terms of recruitment and getting our name out there as the premiere Agency faction. If you have any suggestions in that instance, please feel free to add to it. I also believe that Tbone wanted to get the new challenge up and running ASAP, and he was going to create a special part of the forum for those that actually wanted to contribute to the formation of it, whether it be through ideas, storylines, graphics, web development, etc..

This does not mean that we are abandoning MXO, however. We are just spreading our wings a bit to try and keep our members interested and active, as we've seen a major decrease in activity recently.

To keep some relative interest in the Matrix alive, Broin has decided to make a new MXO FA video, of which we hope many people will want to take a part in. Broin pitched some storylines, but if you also have any suggestions for some, as well, please be sure to send them into Broin or post them in this thread. I will also try to post daily live event summaries of what has happened on each server for all organizations.

Tbone also made it very clear that all of this State of the Faction business is to remain in the faction. We are not to discuss with other people in the MXO community that we are thinking of moving to a new game until we are given the green-light by the Staff.

And, to note, the Agency is still in development, most likely in pre-alpha or alpha. This means that we are still a ways away from a beta in which we would be able to participate in. Between now and then, we threw around some other ideas for things to do while we wait for a playable Beta.

Some intermediate games discussed:

CS:S
CoD4
Unreal Tournament 3/2k4/99
Battlefied 2
LOTRO
Day of Defeat: Source
STEAM Games in general
Darkfall

These games were just suggestions. We would like to narrow this list down so that we can concentrate on just one have more fun with it. If you also have any other suggestions in terms of games, please feel free to post them.

Coupled with a new movie, some intermediate games, and a focus on a new game, we hope to see some more activity on the forums and on TS. Everyone also agreed upon a new "rule" for TS, if you want to call it that. I took it as more of a suggestion, though. Just because you're on TS doesn't mean that you have to be in the Matrix. Instead, we want you to want to sign onto TS whenever you're playing an FPS game or a single-player game or whatever. TS is not just a place to game, but it's also a place where we can just sit and discuss and talk about whatever, even if it isn't related to MXO. Being in TS doesn't mean that you're jacked in or have to jack in if someone asks you to. While we would like you to be in TS if you're jacked in, we would also like you to be in TS if you're just sitting around browsing the internet for an hour or playing some FPS or single player game or whatever. I know I personally sit on TS whenever I'm on my computer, even if I'm not playing MXO, just so I can talk to people if someone decides to sign on or keep them company.

Again, the main point of the meeting was to make everything fun again. We want people to be buzzed about the movie and the Agency and the intermediate games that we'll be playing.

If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so. Tbone's tour ends in May, as well, so he will be a lot more active then to help us out.

And, for those with no life or who need a good long laugh while at work, I can upload the entire discussion and you can listen to it on your iPod or whatever at work or while running or whatever. I'm not going to waste my time uploading it, though, unless you want me to, in which case, I'd be very happy to.

(I'm sorry if I didn't cover everything, I was kind of in a hurry to get to bed.)
