Paul Chadwick has left MxO.
Well, we all know he's had practically no involvement with the game for quite some time. Now it's just been made official.
It's one thing when the players leave a game. It's another thing entirely when the game's writer chooses to jump ship. Thanks for the big slap in the face, Paul.
Meh. Cranky Manic is cranky again. Please excuse my glibness. I'm pissed that I'm finding myself caring less and less about the game, but at the same time I'm glad that I don't have to care anymore. And then I get pissed that I'm glad about not caring. It's a goddamn cycle. I feel should care, but I see no reason to care when the people in charge of the game no longer care.
I'm not saying Chadwick owes us anything, I just think it would be nice to see him do the job he signed on to do and not pussy out because he doesn't feel like it. I stopped getting away with shit like that when I was about eight years old.
Good riddance.
Like I said, I'm just cranky. I've had the notion that Paul was going to leave soon anyway, and I'm just angry to find out that I was right. I reserve the right to rescind all my nasty comments in the future. I don't like speaking out of anger, but this time I couldn't help it. I had to get this out and forethought is taking a backseat.
So uh... how 'bout them Braves? Are the Braves still around? The Oakland Braves, right? They're some kind of sports team?... or something?

I am devastated that he won't be doing Cinematics anymore. It's just another sign that MXO is slowly dieing.
They, and I quote Walrus, didn't have the BUDGET. What are they going to cut next? Rarebit? Merge the Servers?
I, for one, am glad that we're finally thinking of moving to another game. While I will still always stay with MXO, this suddenly leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.

I typed this response out a couple hours ago, but wasn't going to post it just because I didn't feel right posting it. After seeing Ana's comment about Walrus saying there is no budget, I figured I should post it. So here it is:
"Atlanta Braves*. ;)
Stuff like this always make me wonder. Is he really leaving because he wants to leave, or is he leaving because SOE has announced to the insider's that MxO is done? They may have told Paul, "Hey, give us everything you've got left so we can make the game last a bit longer, and then we're done." You know what I mean? His letter makes it seem like he is leaving voluntarily, but maybe SOE wanted him to make a statement like that as to not worry the MxO community. That way people don't start dropping the game, and SOE still milks every last dime out of it that they can.
That may be a harsh way of thinking, but SOE is a company out to make money."
In my humble opinion, I'd say I was pretty spot on with my assumption.

Well, this at least supports are decision to begin looking into other games. FA has become much more important than MxO, so our survival is top priority. I'd like to see MxO thrive with us involved as long as it can, though. If I had the time, I'd chip in with LESIG or other volunteer positions, but my lifestyle doesn't give me the free time to do that.
