I'll start:

31-3-17-71

Here's the hint: this code translates into simply 'Evan'.

The answer is EVAN. The code is simple. I've detailed it below:

31 = E
3 = V
17 = A
71 = N

How did I get it? It's hidden in the sentence below the code. Using that key, it is easy to decipher!

On your 2nd code; are we trying to figure out which color should come next in the series or is it a message to be decoded?

CODE 2 SOLVED:  "The Matrix Has You"

Solution: Each color was broken down to it's R-G-B numbers.  

R:  180-47-227-134-133-69-212-255-140-176-0-88-97-255-120
G:  20-8-5-13-1-20-18-12-24-8-2-19-25-15-21
B:  126-255-52-126-74-75-255-0-0-254-89-112-255-255-65

Isolated "G" because it was the only string without any zero's.

G:  20-8-5-13-1-20-18-12-24-8-2-19-25-15-21

Converted the numbers to letters.

Just for my own personal enrichment  - when you mentioned that the eyedropper tool was our friend, could this only be solved if you had Photoshop?

Microsoft Paint has an eyedropper type tool; you could have used that if Photoshop was unavailable.
