The guild I play Age Of Conan with got 20 beta keys for the clan beta last night. I should hopefully get one.
If this is true, and he gets one, I will have a lot of info to share with you all.

Hello,
This is an update about what is happening today:
We have sent out the first wave of invites to clans and individual testers. We will send more waves of invites within a few hours. Invited players will be able to download the Darkfall installer.
We are applying the latest patch, and players will be able to start patching soon, and entering the game.
We are spacing out the invites in order to facilitate the download of the client and patching. We will continue sending out more invites every day until we reach our capacity.
Since this first phase has to do with stress testing the servers, and doing final testing on features, we are not lifting the NDA until this testing is concluded.
We apologize for the problems with the forums and the website today, we have been experiencing denial of service attacks, and we are working to resolve them.

Yeah I just talked to him today, he said that he's still waiting for the email and he'll let me know as soon as he gets it. Basically as soon as he's able to start downloading he and I will more than likely be joined at the hip for the weekend.
What Anamodiel posted looks promising!

Dear *********** ***********.
You have been selected for the Darkfall trial and you may now start downloading the Darkfall
client.
Please follow these steps:
1) Click on this link (or cut and paste it into your browser):

2) When you are prompted with a login and password, use the following:
Login: *******
Password: **********
3) Save the installer file somewhere you can find it easily.
4) When the download is complete, go to where you saved the file and run it.
5) This will launch an installer which will install Darkfall and required
components on your computer.
6) When the installer is finished downloading, run Darkfall and log in with:
Account: **********
Password: *****************
Darkfall will now run for 2-3 minutes, validating installed files.
When this is concluded, patching will begin. The initial patch is 8 GB,
so it might take a while to download.
The patching is done when you see: 'Patching completed' in the top of the
window.
When patching is finished, click on the 'Servers' button and check if the
server is available for regular testers. The server status is indicated
with a red or green light in the new character button.
You enter the login queue by clicking the "new character" button. When you
have a login slot, the "Play" button will be enabled. Your login slot is
valid for 10 minutes.

Log in with your forum nickname (*************) and password.
Once you’ve logged in you’ll be able to see the Beta Testing Forums.

Did you get a beta key or just your brother?
A lot of people must have gotten into Beta because the flaming and whining on the DF forums has gone waaay down. Kinda depressing. Now I feel like the uncool kid not invited to the party.

my brother in law. I didn't, however I've kidnapped him and his laptop, heh. I've spent a ton of time tonight reading the beta boards. I doubt I will get much hands on time in the game however once it's installed I'll be shoulder surfing A LOT. I'll let you know everything I can.
They wiped a lot of info from the beta boards so not to taint the new crew with old info... but there are a lot of "ok seriously how is it" threads... and it's overwhelmingly positive. Their biggest complaints are that archery is overpowered and needs to be balanced, and that there aren't enough people on the servers too kill. heh

I'm glad they're doing it in waves actually. Considering they're this hammered using waves, it would have been mondo disappointing to get the key and then have to wait days to get the d/l working or something. Avoid DF blue balls.
BTW, thanks for all the updates! It's super awesome getting to see all of this!

For real. Any way to make these files available for all FA members? I hope I don't sound pushy, haha. But really, it'd be more convenient for us and for Aventurine's servers. I was on some beta leak page that was talking about uploading a DF torrent on the pirate bay...

We are posting the Patch Notes here since our forums are under DOS attack. We are working to resolve that issue.
New Patch
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have fixed most of the problems people had with the patching process. You should all get decent patching speeds now.
A new patch has been released.
We've reset the patch system and done some optimization on the dataset.
The complete dataset has been reduced to around 8 GB in this patch instead of 20 GB as it was before.
We've gone up several build numbers since the last patch, and the characters have been wiped.
Fixes and Upgrades in this patch includes
- A new lobby has been activated
- GUI has been reworked and completely reskinned
- Sprint hack from earlier builds have been fixed
- Vendors always place a marker on the minimap now
- Invisible items on hotbar has been fixed
- Camera modes have been updated. You can use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out
- City building mode camera has been fixed, so it never gets stuck
- Warhulk movement have been enhanced (You can use F12 to toggle camera modes when driving a warhulk)
- Mount controls has been tweaked.
- Mount movement bug where you, in some cases, would get stuck close to other players or NPCs have been fixed
- Rivers have been updated. If you go swim in a river, it will now carry you downstream.
- Swimming has been tweaked
- All attributes have been enabled
- Base attributes increasing will now display a signal to you
- Resource nodes have been tweaked
- Resource nodes that are empty will now display a proper message
- Clan Window and Journal window has been fixed. If a bug is encountered there it will not freeze the game
- If you get damaged just before you teleport, the damage effect will no longer say on your camera
- Progress bars will not potentially be hidden behind other windows anymore
- Extremely rare player trading problem have been fixed
- NPC animations have been updated
- Many, many more chests have been added. These need specific keys to access them. You can usually find this on monsters nearby.
- Many toolboxes, weapon racks etc. have been enabled for you to loot around the world.
- Crafting window improvements
- Rune stones(Recall stones) have been enabled. Anyone can use a rune stone, but to bind a location into it, you need to be trained in that skill.
- A bug where you could not buy greater magic has been fixed
- You can now configure if you want hit sounds or not (A hit sound is a sound that is played when you do damage to something). It's option can be found in audio options
- You now start with one starter (conscript) weapon and you can change this, for a price, at a vendor
- You can now buy more slots for starter weapons at a vendor. (Maximum is 3)
- Directional attacks for all melee weapons have been added. You can slice vertically or horizontally. The default key for toggling this is 'T'.
- Animations for seize and knock back skills for melee weapons have been fixed
- Some problematic gank animations for Mirdain have been fixed
- Update and new features for the Clan Window
- Update and new features for the Player Journal
- Update to the high score lists.
- Many more quests added
- High score quests have been enabled
- Time limit highscore quests have been enabled
- Massive AI update: Many more monsters have been added
- AI behaviour has been severely improved
- More wildlife monsters (tigers, bears, lions etc) have been enabled
- Underwater monsters have been enabled
- Dungeon monsters have been enabled
- Monsters will now visibly taunt you (if you deserve it)
- Some monsters packs will be roaming: If you meet some monsters at a specific location, that doesn't mean that they will be there the next time you pass.
- Monsters will now sometimes send personal taunts to you
- Environment system have been fully enabled: Ambience and weather will now change in both time and as you move around areas. One Darkfall Day is now approx 5 human hours
- In game help has been enabled. Press the help button on the main menu to get to the help pages.
- Rest skill will now raise with use and as you get better you will regenerate faster
- Bindstone recall spawn timer has been fixed and you can now also cancel the skill by moving
- Updates to armor graphics
- Environment in Character Creator has been fixed
- The 'i' key no longer toggles mouse invert. To toggle use the option under Input Options.
- More player skills have been added.
- Clan cities belonging to your own clan will now display on your world- and minimap.
- You can choose what markers to display on your world and minimap by going to Options->GUI Options
- Initiating a clan conquest against a city will now display countdown timers on all the participants.
- Initiating a clan conquest will now display the challenged city and the challengers cities on the world- and minimap.
- Stats from all conquest will now be properly saved
- The city building process now displays the cost (in building modules) of creating a city building.
- A challenged city that has been taken over will now properly kick the people who are bound there
- City local bonuses will now properly be removed when the building is disabled, and re enabled when the building is enabled again.
- City local and global bonuses (get these by building a unique wonder) will now be enabled correctly again after a server restart
- Built Clan city cannons are now usable after a server restart
- Dwarven and Mirdain Clan Cannons now functional in all cities
- You now have to have the building modules in your back pack when building a city. You can no longer have them in the Clan Vault (so people can kill you and steal it when you are building a city)
- Entire world has been fixed to remove gaps in the world
- Updates to the world

It patches like WoW so you download an installer which you need a password for then you log into the game and it patches itself
The initial DL is only 40 megs but then it patches 8 gigs more.
So I can rar up the program files folder but I doubt it will work without whatever registry edits etc that it will need.
Currently it's downloading 8 gigs worth of .sfad files which are each 511 megs. I am assuming they are just compressed files that will get exploded once the download portion is complete. then they will extract and get put into whatever folders they're supposed to.

It is making changes to your registry? I know most games it is possible to download the entire folder of the game directory and start playing. But I suppose not every game is the same.

Get your feet wet yet? Surely you've downloaded it by now? And how about a torrent for the rest of us? You could just zip it up and leave it running on your comp and then we could all seed to each other. If you need instructions on how to make a torrent, let me know.

ever since last night the patcher crashed. and since then it won't connect anymore. Keeps timing out. Not sure if it's related to the ddos attacks or not.
I think my brother in law's is done but the servers are down today. :/

OK FA, I need 2 things so that when servers go live I'm ready. I need a trusted copy of fraps.
(The ones I see on pirate bay warn of viruses. A trusted copy from and old school member here is preferable. Make sure it works with Vista please)
Second, I need a dump site to host the installed client. It's 9 gigs and needs to be private. Please understand that I can only share this with members of FA I trust and have been a long term member. This is only to protect my brother in law. I'm sure that it contains files that have his login name in it somewhere.

I think they did clan invites first now they're rolling out singles. It's all speculation though, I'm not sure. It's impossile to say until the boards come back up... if ever.

I'd rather not torrent it so that everyone and their mom can get it. Any other ideas? Again who knows how much info is stored in these folders. If it can be tied back to him or I we're in hot water. I'd rather upload it to a server that's password protected like a private ftp or something hint hint lithium

You can put passwords on torrents or far files. Name it something obscure and only give us the link. I highly doubt there is any sort of key detection to play since it will be available for everyone to download soon. You will just need an account to log in and patch. I could be wrong I suppose

its not an installer. though. It's not an 8 gig .exe file that I can send it's like the entire program files directory. And I am digging in it and I've found ini files that have user names and crap in it.
Basically it starts with a 40GB installer. That creates the icon on your desktop, the program files folder, the lobby.exe which is the welcome screen and main patcher, changes to your registry etc.
Once you log in it starts patching.... patching starts downloading and exploding 9 gigs worth of game into your program files folder.
So what's I'm trying to get at is... I can send it to you but it has stuff user id stuff written in it everywhere...
Unless you just want the 40gb patcher..
Something my buddy and I were talking about to is that everyone is going to have to download the game all over again at launch anyway. At least that's what they made you do with Age of Conan. I think MxO too..

Ini files can be edited though, right? Just remove the key information and include a readme with where to add your key in the ini. Unless it is created for your character name, in which case you can delete them and they will be created at char creation. Or is it more complex than that?
Just not looking forward to a 2 to 3 day patch...of course, the way our luck has been so far we won't have to worry about it because we will never get keys!

OK Tbone and I are working a test out to get the 9 gig patch to everyone so that once we get our beta keys we will be able to jump right in.
Related News: I tried logging into the game this morning and kept getting errors. I remoted into my home machine just now to try again and it's installing a new 34mb patch. So maybe it was a fluke.
As soon as I get a chance to poke in I will be screen shotting like a mofo.
I hope this goes without saying but keep any and all info and media obtained within teamspeak or this website to yourself. Do not share or risk killing the goose for the golden egg.

Is it possible that since you installed it on more than one machine, it will not work on the second machine? Even if you have the right login? I have about 3 hrs left on my download and then I will test and see if it is safe to share.
