Title: Character Appearance
Post by: Lits on January 24, 2009, 03:37:02 pm
So without nametags floating above our heads, and little chance for recognizable uniforms (the trailers do not show anything I saw that wasn't brown or black blahness, and presumably it would be looted from us upon death anyway) How is FA going to stand out? Is there a certain guidline we should set up for character creation? Marks ans coloring, etc?

Thoughts?

No clue what character creation is like...at all. So...yeah.

Typically these are things I'd rather not restrict for our members. It doesn't make much sense for me to say "you have to be this tall and have this tattoo". Anything done in character creation can be done by anyone anyway, so I don't think any sort of restriction is going to help us stand out.

In terms of clothing, I think a uniform is possible. The problem with our traditional white is that blending in with surroundings is going to be a must for survival. It has to be more tactical than flashy. Once again something we'll have to look at in game. Once we maybe find something that is distinctive, useful, and maybe has appropriate stats, we could mass produce it so that everyone would have multiples in their bank for when they get ganked. Once again, though, this is all speculation until we get in there.

Its been posted you can wear a robe over your equipment if you want.  I say focus should first be into seeing what we could do with robes.  Its easy to put on or remove and has no real drawback besides its appearance.  Treat it like a military dress uniform.

Sigh 2 years of that lol, I like the idea robes can be put over uniforms as a ranger I'd like stay light anyways but I'll go whatever boost my range to hit harder

I like the robe idea. It could serve as a uniform that only affects the player's appearance, and not their preformance. For me it all just depends on how customizable this "robe" is. If it's nearly as customizable as the guild tabards were in WoW, I say we go for it. But, needless to say, these things can only be decided come game launch.
