I'm sure you all saw the map that was leaked last week, but check this out.
If this is drawn to scale, the world is gonna be huge!

That's pretty huge.

OH SCHNAP!

WoW sucks.
End of discussion.

Whoa...

I hope there's a more convenient way to travel than running/mounts. I hate having to run forever to get places :/

That is part of the fun/adventure. If there is quick travel, there would be no purpose for that much land as people would only travel from transportation point to transportation point and maybe a limited radius around each.
Too much quick travel contributed to the downfall of SWG. Half the fun was exploration and traveling.

There's teleporting I heard.

Yeah, they confirmed there are recall runes, similar to UO, but they are going to be limited charges and very expensive to use and hard to obtain.
For those unfamiliar, in Ultima Online, for basically peanuts, any character could cast a 4th circle spell called "Recall" and instantly teleport anywhere in the world (even in dungeons as they were not instanced) even while in combat.
It was something that made the game great, but the same system would not be good for Darkfall. I am sure they will not overdo it like UO.

I agree, and I love exploration. I've been playing Fallout 3 for like 70 hours and haven't touched the main story because I love exploring it. But one of the things I didn't enjoy about Perfect World was that it took a long time to get from one town to another. That alone wouldn't have been so bad if the quests weren't like "go to town B, get supply A, come back to town A, trade for supply B, go back to town B, trade for supply C, go to town C, trade for supply D, go back to town A, get 100 exp!!!" lol. You spend like 2 hours doing one quest just traveling back and forth. I'm sure it'll be different with DF though, considering this isn't as much as a quest based game, right?
That being said, I like Oblivion and Fallout 3, in that you have to visit somewhere before you can teleport there. That way you have to explore everywhere you go, but you don't have to waste time walking back and forth. I think that would be a little to much for DF, but I enjoy it on Oblivion and Fallout 3.

The hardline system in MxO was overkill. Waaay too many hardlines. The expensive, rare rune stones sound good enough. In this game territory is going to be important and traveling extremely dangerous, so I think it's a good thing that you'll have to do most of it manually.

The realism is one of the reasons we picked this game, no?
Once again I must stress the necessity to stay together once ingame (mostly because it most likely pertain to me being out for a few days, logging back in and finding I'm all alone.)
