I don't think the job market is TOO bad. I keep getting annoying calls from recruitment agents. Plenty of jobs going in the UK it seems. Don't panic, change can be good.

Dang, effective immediately??? At least I got 8 months notice on my layoff. I was able to plan ahead and NOT find a new job in those 8 months or the 4 months since.

I'm not laughing at you... that sentence was just funny.

I feel for both of you. I only have a part time job working at a golf course and I wish I had a real job like I've had the last two summers - it brought in good money.

The wizards of smart have been saying that the economy should slowly go on the rebound towards the end of the year, but with the way that they predict economic events, it'll be a surprise if that turns out to be true.

What industry...I know my company is looking for tier 1 helpdesk tech for Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland...I think the pay is only about 40-45K a year...and you must be able to obtain a secret clearance

Update...

So... I interviewed and got the job a while ago (end of May)... since then it's been a roller coaster.  I'm working about 60 - 70 hours a week average between this job and my old job (I still consult for them).  Needless to say I've been very tired and very busy but I am very lucky.  I'm making a crap load more than I was and am taking the opportunity to get out of debt fully and am thinking about looking for my first home soon.

Some recent events:

--> I got an iPhone 3Gs!  Yay!
--> I got some new wheels (http://www.hyosungmotorsusa.com/product/introduction.asp?Cat=Scooter&model=MS3-250)! (67 mpg baby!)
--> My daughter had her 3rd birthday at the beginning of August
--> My gf decided to start going back to work after being a stay at home mom for over 3 years!
--> We're stressfully searching for a day care for Lilly ($200 a week... YOUCH!)
--> I haven't had much time at all for anything other than work and family..


So what have I missed?
