I'll update this as we figure out what we want to do. Basically this is a rough outline of the steps we are taken to keep active and hopefully get hardcore into ONE game again.
August-December - FPSs, Beta tests, Creating new site
This will be important development time to prepare for our 2010 lineup! So far we've been playing some Team Fortress 2 and beta testing games like CrimeCraft, Aion, etc.
December 2009-October 2010 - APB, prepping for SWTOR
APB is set to come out in March, so once we have our new site up, we'll start creating content and recruiting for that game, assuming it's still a promising game. Once APB is live, we'll continue to play that while developing stuff for SWTOR.
October 2010-?? - APB, SWTOR, The Agency?
If APB is still going strong, we'll continue to increase our presence there. We'll most likely begin to switch focus to SWTOR, that is estimated to release around this time. If we have the manpower, we'll have an APB and SWTOR unit running at the same time, but this is well into the future, so we'll see how it goes. If both games are bombs, then there's always The Agency to look at.
Thoughts?

I like this plan, mostly because of the simple fact that there IS a plan.
I'm really digging EVE, but I can't realistically see myself playing it longer than a few months tops. It's got the depth I like, but the combat is very dull and non-interactive. I need twitch gameplay to make me happy!
Aion looks really cool, and I think it can hold us until SW:TOR releases. At least, I'd hope so.
Well, that's my opinion at least. I'm sure others will have differing ones. I'm interested in seeing how this all pans out.

Deal

Let's do it!
-
Done and done.
I'm in big favor of TOR over The Agency mainly because it takes us that much farther from SoE.
-
I'm loving the idea for aion and TOR.
Honestly, as much as i love the idea of the Agency, i can't say i have hopes with Sony working on it =/
-
Aion and TOR. I just hope Aion isn't so good we don't want to leave it. heh.
-
I#'m not sure about Aion - I seriously dont have enough money at the moment but I will be all over TOR.
-
I'm skeptical about Aion. The devs sure seem enthusiastic about their game, but devs always are, so I take it with a grain of salt. My honest impression is that it looks like WoW with an added flight mechanic. I do want to try it for myself, though.
I'm on board for SWTOR. I've heard enough good things about Bioware and their commitment to their games. The more I think about the Agency, the less I want to play it for the long term. I'm sure it will be huge at launch, but it will begin to fizzle within a year. SOE will slowly drop heavy support on the game while they move on to their next MMO venture. And they'll continue to promote the garbage of Free Realms as if it were the second coming of Christ.
I'm still playing EVE and still loving it. There's no real grind to speak of, so it's nice to focus on playing the game rather than leveling a character.

I'm with manic. I want to stay away from typical fantasy MMOs, which Aion seems like - and yes, T, I say this without playing it. =P TOR looks like a good contender though.
Still loving EVE even though for the most part I'm just monitoring skills for now.

I'm glad at least we have options nowadays and it's not like the dark ages of EQ or death.

going to throw in age of conan as an idea. I played it for a long time but none of you lot were there so i had to leave after a while. It is a seriously good game with brilliant end-game and pvp as an when you wish. Worth a thought guys and I think they are doing free trials at the moment. Just a thought

I thought AoC got like .. trashed or something. Kinda like an MxO deal where it was awesome then just went and kept going down hill.

For the record, I don't have anything in particular against fantasy MMOs. Granted, I don't see much to like about them either. It just seems like they all blend together these days. Imagine if 70% of PC games were basically clones of The Sims.
But I will give Aion a try. If it's fun, then I'll play it. If it's not fun, then I won't. :)

The way I see it now, the choice is either a non-fantasy with a dead or dated community (SWG is a ghost town and from what I understand, in EVE you can never hope to catch up to the people who are left), or try for something fantasy and at least catch the wave of a thriving community and active and evolving game. I'm not a fantasy fan myself, which is why something like Aion would be a nice way to spend a few months trying something new that's solid instead of getting "hardcore" about it like the other games coming down the tubes.
This is part of the reason we stayed with one game for so long. Going multi-game is a quick way to split up your guild to where no one is gaming with each other anymore. It's hard to find a game that everyone is going to enjoy (or at least tolerate...heh), but I'm trying my best. Try to keep an open mind about some of these games we are trying out. If we try it out and it becomes like Darkfall (where 3/25 people are still enjoying it), then we evolve to something else.
Hopping on a dying swan just doesn't seem like a good option which is why I'm looking for games that are releasing soon or have just come out.
-
The last thing to be said about EVE is that it's a dying swan. The community there is thriving, not to mention polite.
-
That was more in reference to SWG, where we only found one place left in the entire galaxy that was selling the tool needed to create a guild. It was a little ridiculous.
I go on my two week vacation soon, so I'm holding off on the EVE trial until I get back to my nice computer.
-
Haha! Oh dear. That's a bad sign really.
Definitely hold off on the trial until you have a nice dedicated slot of time to play it. No rush, anyway. I do agree with you that a new fresh game is always a preference, if you haven't managed to find an old one you're already deeply rooted into which is why I'm going to try Aion and MO and whatever else crops up! My going on about EVE is not really from the standpoint of desperately wanting all of you to start playing it, more a defensive one. I know the game is misunderstood by many so don't knock it til you try it ;-) Hell I have become bored of it in my time, so it's not perfect. I do think having a decent clan to play with in any game like this helps greatly.
