Title: Recruitment Posting
Post by: Tbone on October 22, 2010, 09:23:43 pm
Ok, we're going to open up the SWTOR forums for posting now (all of the threads). Here's the deal. You gotta keep the story going. Don't screw this up. Here are some guidelines:

-No giving hints/clues AT ALL

-Any thread dealing with recruitment or any question about the guild must remain in very vague RP. Example:

BAD: "Yeah, I'm in the FA guild! come check out our challenge and then if you get through you can join!!"

GOOD: "If you have questions, then it is possible for you to find the answers. The real question is if you are up for the journey. The signal (http://followthesignal.net) beckons...

-Posting non-RP stuff in other threads is fine (weighing in on game mechanics, etc.), but any time the topic shifts to the guild, you should switch to RP.

-Don't be an asshole

-Don't spam our guild thread. That forum has specific guidelines of their own. Take a look at them before you start posting.

-Use proper grammar/spelling/punctuation. Use a dictionary/thesaurus if you have to.

-Don't get into flame wars. Don't feed the trolls.

I'll think of more things as you guys start posting. Please feel free to get as active in the community as you can!

If I might supplement the boss man's comment regarding being an arse hole. This extends to engaging in arguments on the forums. People will have a problem with us and they will look to engage us in pointless baiting. Rise above it at all times. If the time comes to respond then it will likely be the broin or t himself who will retaliate. We pride ourselves on being elite; act it;)

Hah. Some asshole from Pax Republica posted in our thread, saying that it had nothing to do with guild recruitment and that it should be locked/moved.

Don't feed the trolls is another good point to bring up.

Not being an asshole is a strong sounding a phrase we all agree on at face value, but for any newer members who have not yet posted publicly as an FA member, it also means not posting witty and clever retorts that are not in RP and/or are negatively charged. Look at T's response to the troll, great example of keeping in character and not sounding prickish.

NoCry brings up a good point in that usually it should be T or Broin responding, if at all, rather than 5 or 6 random members trying to defend FA's honor. Of course FA is not a dictatorship and you can certainly post, but I think discipline, using best judgment, and patience before making any public statements is a great way of "showing" that we're not just a bunch of hot heads (says the pot I know :-p).

A real world example we (and now the Military Academy) can point to is General McChrystal and his firing as a result of the lack of judgment and cohesiveness on behalf of his subordinates.

Is the recruitment thread still there? I posted in in a while a go and had it open in a tab.

I opened my browser again and now the tab says i don't have permission to check the thread.

Not only that, but i can't seem to find it in the republic recruiting forum.

Is it just me being blind?

So...yeah...I can't be the only one bumping this. It looks like I'm in a one person guild.

Guys the recruitment thread only needs to be bumped once a day other wise it may look like we are spamming. Please make sure to look at the time the last post was posted before you post. At least wait till will fall of the first page before bumping.

Finally PMed David Bass and he gladly changed the title of our thread to "## The Furious Angels - Follow the Signal...", so that's the new title if you are looking for it.
