Ok, here's the deal. Seven has agreed to make as many sigs as needed for this faction. We really like the look of our new sigs that match the theme (we being myself, likwidtek, and seven). They also happen to match the MxO forums quite well. At first we were thinking about making a similar-looking sig for each of the captains, but then we thought of doing a similar-looking sig for each member. Basically, each ship will have a unique shape, etc. to its sig, and as members join a ship, they are made a custom sig with their name on it based on the ship they get in. A lot of you probably don't want to be FORCED into a sig, though, so that's why I'm creating this poll. We want to try to stay uniformed with this, so if we do it, it's all or nothing. Vote now and leave your opinions! If you want to know what they look like, look at my sig or likwidtek's or seven's.

I would rather be able to chose to use a signature by seven or use one of my own, but I accidently voted number 1.

I understand that most people enjoy sigs and frankly, I have seen some AMAZING artwork in many of the sigs I have seen here on these boards. If I was to ever have a sig, I would most certainly want it to come from whoever was making the majority of sigs I see around here.
However, I personally am no fan of the sig box. I find it to be a tad annoying and pointless. I understand the need for unity and if the rule is made that all members need to have their custom made sig displayed, then I will surely do so. But if the choice is left to me, I'd prefer to leave my sig box blank. It's no insult or anything to the group, but more of a continuation of my habits. I never put a sig in any of my accounts on any message boards.

I prefer to have a unifying sig on the outside, but on the inside, it helps if we're unique, because it's part of one's identity. "Hey! It's Goob!" . o O ( Hey, he's the clean guy. )

Inside... Who care's We all know we are FA members.... The ships, we have a thread posted just for that. Inside, I say we use our own. Outside... mainly the MxO boards, we use a unify one.
For two reasons. One, look at the number of posts we all have. Just think of how hammered into people's brains we will be by the time thie game comes. Two, Unity.
As well as my flame toward some sigs. There are really distruptive reading in the threads. I don't mind any of the colors, word use, etc. Some are just to large in height. I run at a 1152 x 864 and some of these sigs are half page sigs. I would perfer it if all sigs were the same size (at least in height).
EDIT: Oh yea... The bluepill should use the Untiy sigs too.

I Agree mostly with "Goob" so i'm voting # 2. Just as a side not i've never had any sigs on any of the boards i post on i've been waiting to find a good reason to even bother with it. Also i think we should call it something else like a tatto or a jacket(or something Matrix-ie if that's even a word) to be given when you are officaly inducted in FA just a though...OH yeah to the powers that be i loooove the new site

I agree fully with Eroz, so I have voted #2, On these forums we all know whos who, but on MxO forums, it would be cool if we all looked the same, but i'd prefer to keep the sig I have now on these forums.
Edit:it is possible to use Flash on the MxO forums, as all they are doing is adding the nessecary code to make the pics come up, so if any one has experience with flash, maybe they could make some, or am i just being to complicated?

Here is my opinion, I voted for number 2. Reason being, if we all had them on the MxO boards it would create a much bigger impact on the outsiders. We don't really need them in these forums, although saying that it would be nice having the organisation, however we don't need the same impact and I feel that we can keep the "unity" as someone stated.

heh i voted #2 as well. in the mxo forums it would look good. in here i think we need to keep our individuality :2d

It would be good if there were sigs made for each of the ships, and people were given the option of adapting them (writing on their name or whatever). That would then show that we are united as a clan.
Whether people use them here or not is a different matter, but on the boards I think they should be shown.

Hmmmn, I always like creating my own sig.
In MxO, my opinion on a topic is not always that of the Furious Angels... ;), but I am about to edit my sig to have a FA link included....
If everyone has the same "theme" of sig, then I think it loses a bit of individuallity... some people are dark, others are enlightened... eh yeah.
I think there should be an option where everyone is allowed to receive one, but they don't have to take it.
Even tho they look really nice (based on T-bones sig)..!

Each member of the HvCFT wears the same sig, (excluding name, rank ect) but EACH HvCFT has very different shape, yet resembling a FA appeal and look..... My proove hard to pull off classy.

i think that having the same sig in mxo would look very unified and dignified and show off that we are, to the public, one faction and not a bunch of random people. but in here i think that doing the same thing does a bottleneck effect that cuts the sharing of creativity to just one or two people, which isn't exaclty fair. of course not everything is, but in the fa i think it would be better to express ourselves as individuals and in the mxo show as a unified group. but i do think that there should be a size requirement (pixel x pixel) ... it just makes sense. :)

I voted #2. I think that if someone hits a thread anywhere in the MxO forums and our members were pretty active in it, the visual impact on anyone reading it would be immense. We would be unmistakable.

let me just answer a few questions that people have pm'd me concerning the dog tags..
yes: each ship will have its own unique dog tag,
unsure: im not yet sure if there will be ranks on the tags, i would like to implement perhaps grooves or stars, representing your rank for your ship.
yes: they will have the same construct look as the ones tbone, likwidtek and i already have (but not exactly the same)
yes: the name of your ship will be on the tag, the dog tags me, likwid and tbone are using are prototypes, and i guarantee the final look of the tags will be much more kickass.. and will probably make you more proud to rep it ;)

My honest opnion on this is that we keep our individuality here on our own boards and show our unity outside of our own boards. One thing though on the topic of rank how are we to decide this condsidering you would have to go with seniority. there are people here that have been here a long time that I think would be deserving of a title aside from Tbone and the Captians. There's alot to think about when putting this into consideration for each ship, also some of our ships have been around longer than others so that would pretty much make flagships of the FA.
Kike I said ALOT to think about when considering this type of idea.

Being a rebel, sometimes without a cause/sometimes with, I couldn't vote because there was no choice to keep our own sigs. Individuality would be lost on both boards if everyone has the same look. Even diff ships with same feel as main look would be better. There must be some room for creativity / autonomity/individuality even if everyone uses the same sig.

Yes, I would rather use my own sig too. However everyone else are welcome to use a Seven sig. :)

I voted no. 2 cos I love makin my own sigs (even if I don't use them) and to see a load of people wearing the same sig with that rectangular form, could be very intimidating!

I would vote for option #2 - To think that we all have the ability to show everyone on the MxO forums that we have the same sig, has a profound impact on anyone that reads any of our messages. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a trend, that other clans would start to follow.
I think we should be unified outside, but cover each other on the inside. Look like we're one to everyone else, but we know ourselves that it's a group together that makes us a whole.
However, I do think that to adequately poll this situation there should have been an option as to keep your own sig.
Although....I don't that making us a unified front on the MxO forums will stifle your indidviduality at all. Not to be harsh, or sound off-putting, but we all made a choice to join a clan. In and of itself that alone stifles indidvidualtiy to some extent - there are automatically certain rules that you'll have to follow, and certain regulations that you'll have to comply to. Not to sound like joining a clan means that you'll have to give up your lives, but you get what I'm saying? There are sacrifices you have to give up to make the group stronger.

Well I don't really have much of an oppinion to voice about it. I really like Tbone and Sevens idea so I'm going with the flow.
I agree with alot of posts here on it showing unity etc. Anyway, whatever way the boats sways I don't really mind.

Actually I do agree with that statement.
Perhaps we can have part of a sig that everyone must have (expect hvcft name is different where required). The other part can be of your own design (or of a few options that FA give with the regular part).
IE 1/3 (left side) is FA regulation sig, the other 2/3 is whatever you want.
But if that idea is any good, I would also suggest that sig size is standard across the board.
Personally, I hate sigs that are tall. Some one posts a two line comment, and his sig covers a good 12 lines sometimes... :( I think it looks untidy sometimes, but thats just me and my own preferences !! ;)

I agree with the unity / clan sermon. Also, it would be good if room was left for individuality in the standard ship sig was left as an option (Icon area / color scheme / border choice???)

I voted number 2 for a number of reasons, most of them Eroz already pointed out but the one reason he didnt hit was that seven is making me a kick ass sig for the site. New sig coming soon to a forum near you. but if you want to use the "Dog Tags" i think you should be able to.

The last option, "I would prefer it if no one else received that custom sig", is the same as saying "I would like everyone to be able to make their own sig". The option is there to not use the sigs at all, though that doesn't look like that'd the direction things are going in.
As for leaving room for personal space on faction sigs, I will once again state that we should either do all or nothing. If done correctly, these "dog tags" could become an indication of prestige on the MxO forums. We should seem like one unit, and if you aren't willing to sacrifice a little individuality on the MxO forums, how many sacrifices are you going to be willing to make for the team in-game? So far the vote is leading towards having mandatory dog tags for the MxO forums, but leaving these forums to express your individuality. We'll give the poll a little while longer, though.

Just a friendly note:
If in the end voting between mandatory in the MxO & mandatory in both is terribly close, it might be nice to allow those that didn't vote for either have the chance to recast their vote. It might only be possible by a 2nd poll with only the two options. I think this way if it is close before that, we might be able to have a more decisive winner after.
EDIT: I just want to reiterate, I am for the MxO only option.

i voted for no1 cos i think it's a good idea to represent ourselves....+the people who don't know how or cant find the time(like me) to make a sig would have one which represented themselves, their ship and the faction...but it'll be a lot of work...

This is gonna be a tall order... How impossible would it be for the community to get in on the development of these tags... I"m not saying have 100% creative power.... But just enough to curve the look of the tag just a bit... Maybe create a variation of 3 sigs simular to yours Tbone.. then have a vote for which one best suits the faction... Just a thought.

I know I'm in a definite minority voting for the last one, but let me explain:
The white sigs just seem so... sterile and bland and corporate and not unique.
They don't really reflect our personality.
I admit that a lot of people, including Seven(Who touched up my sig!) are much better artists than me and create better sigs.
But I take a certain pride in my work, and I know that the sig I create myself is the best reflection of myself.
The new sigs lack that self-expression.
I think just putting "The Furious Angels" and a link to followtheangel.org is enough to proclaim our affiliation but retain individuality at the same time.

coming from former military i like the uniformity of having a customer sig for all to use on both forums.

I think that ship captains and the likes of Lid and Seven should have the uniform sig. But until we decide how the crew personnel will either rank or however we decide to do it, they should be free to have whatever sig they want. I would like all my crew members to unify under the similar sig, but until we are sure or rankings, it is hard to force it upon them.

I voted for the 2nd option. I think uniformity on the MXO boards would look really nice, and be one more thing to set us a step above the other groups out there. It would give that extra mystique when you saw that particular sig you KNEW that person was a member of the FA, and that being a part of the FA's means something special.
Allowing people to use their own sigs here would give those gifted in such artwork the chance to display it.
Perhaps it would be possible for 2-3 different type of sigs to be made for each ship. One which is the standard uniform white, then maybe something a little more flashy, and another perhaps a bit more dark and ominous. If you wanted to get real detailed you could break it down per class group on the ship and have different sigs for different ranks and different ability trees but that seems a bit much...
I like the 2-3 better and the captains of each ship could determine which ones would be used and could choose to rotate the sigs on a weekly basis to give a more varity to people.

didn't want to unnececarilly bother anyone :d , being that a lot of people have a lot of work with whatever they do(if i got them right) they would still answer the post even thoe they really don't have the time.... ;)

I know this probably won't can't as anything, I'd rather just use my own sigs on the MxO boards. Sig making is kinda my hobby (lame I know) and I usually show off my sigs on the MxO boards because people know me there. Now if I couldn't be making my own sigs for the MxO boards, it would be horribible.....

Personally, I'm with having one unified sig in the MxO forums and firmly believe that everyone should have some sort of visible indication of their affiliation with the Furious Angels but maybe we could come to some sort of compromise with the people who like making their own sigs. The FA sig could be a smaller bar with all the info on it that is placed in or around the user's own sig. I don't actually have a sig for MxO so I would probably just use the FA one. Just a thought...

I think it should be optional.
There are those who would love to have matching sigs.They might see that it promotes unity, and that the clan as a whole would be seen as more organized, more cohesive organization. There are also those who don't wish to have matching sigs. They might see the matching sigs as conformity while they wish to hold on to their individualistic nature, even online.
Either way, it's cool, but personally I wouldn't want to be constrained into having a matching sig...

Well, I added Furious Angels to my sigs. But I'm with Pyre on this. It really should be optional if somebody wants to have a clan sig for unity.

I think that we SHOULD have it on the MxO forums, but if you want it on here that's your choice. I think that perhaps Captains and other staff should have them on here, but that's my opinion.

If these sigs become mandatory can I at least change the color scheme on mine every couple of weeks? I usually make myself a new sig every couple of weeks because I hate looking at the same thing all the time and I would hate to have to keep it one thing forever.

my take on it......
if you aren't willing to give up a little of yourself on the MxO forums, how willing are you to do what the faction needs you for in game. since individualized sigs are allowed on the FA boards, I think it shouldn't be a problem that command asks that you use the official sig on the MxO boards.

It's one thing to be in the game, it's another to be on the forums for that game. I never go into desert of the real or dev round table and I don't see too many furious angels in general or RSI. Hell, I don't even post on the mxo forums for mxo. I post there because the people are nice there unlike some other forums I know.

The MxO forums ARE the game right now. To prepare the community for the coming of the angel I feel it's absolutely necessary that we be united and uniform in public.
In our own private forums I think we can be relaxed… but it will be an impressive site seeing over 200 members wearing an FA dogtag.
I know some of us have REALLY cool sigs that we wanna show off but come on… The faction comes first. You can still wear your personal sig here.

My next sig is going to be awesome, there's no way in hell I'm giving it up.
On the other hand, a sig is a sig and a dog tag is a dog tag.
I'm going to have my sig, and below that my dog tag. Problem solved!
