It's out! Get it, now!
So far I've played through the same amount as the demo, but the game looks a lot better than the demo did! It just feels so quick and refreshing...I'm not sure how else to describe it so far. I wanted to try it with the high-res textures, but apparently my dual geforce 275 gtx s aren't hardware-compatible with DirectX 11. Oh well, the game still looks great!
My rogue's journey has begun!

I hate Americans...
Getting games released days ahead of me.

Started playing a warrior <3 this game.

So much fun so far! I still haven't had a chance to play it much (was busy today), but I've got tomorrow off and plan on playing it a lot more!
The graphics look amazing. Combat is a lot of fun with the rogue. The cinematics and dialog wheel draw me in pretty well - I haven't even felt the need to turn on subtitles.
One thing that is different and kind of strange is the way traveling is handled. Basically everything is divided into zones. When you go out of a zone, you can choose any other zone on the map to instantly travel to. Zones that have quests in them are clearly marked, and you can choose night or day. Also, some cinematics will take you all the way back to a random zone. It makes for a very streamlined experienced, but perhaps at the sacrifice of a little sense of exploration. Definitely gets you right in the action, though!

Dammit, too many games coming out that I want to get. I forgot this was coming out so soon!
[searches around for stuff to sell on ebay]
-
Ill probably have to get this for my ps3, as my computer probably wont handle it on pretty mode.
-
same!
-
I have DA2 sitting on my lap and the disk in my drive. It's installed but I can't play it because of Sony's online release date program.
Twats.

You are always welcome to join us at LoL :P <3
LIKE lol
maybe i should now put this under DAII but...
so far i'm not that impressed.
/hides
i restarted three times...
i don't like how they changed the trees or how you equip your stuff.
and flemeth looks like a slut lol
BUT...
the rogue kicks ass so far. and that's what i'm sticking with as hawk.
i originally had a warrior, thinking i would tank, but then redhead showed up. so now i have my rogue in the party but i actually let her use her tactics and i play the tank.
i'm currently outside the city of whatever trying to get in.
i'd like to hear any opinions you guys have.
-
played warrior, 2nd playthru mage, the story is def better as a mage. seems to be drawn up as the "canon" class to play, makes the struggle of the mages vs templars that much more meaningful
-
Played a witty Rogue first playthrough, playing a hard-ass mage this time.
Good:
Merrill. I would marry her if she was real; but I think it's because she has my/Welsh accent. Completely tragic too, if you go for the right/wrong choices.
Fighting system is AWESOME.
Graphics are better, but a bit too 'edgy'.
Story's much darker and more complex; I actually had trouble deciding who were the good and bad guys by the end.
Voice acting's better (except for male Hawk; argh!) and so are the characters.
Bad:
Aveline's chin. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PATCH IT.
Recycled dungeons. Yawn.
Fenris and Anders being complete whiney bitches. Although, Anders'... little infestation... is a very cool storyline. Take Anders into the Fade in Act 2 with you; a nice little twist.
Can't stop and have a normal convo on the go with companions; have to go to their 'homes' or 'bases'.
-
my first time through the origins i had a mage and i had no idea what i was doing. maybe i should just heal :/
i know what you mean about the convos, that is annoying.
was anders from the witchhunt or awakening? sounds familiar.
well i still have far to go...

I'd rather just marry Eve Myles. Knowing who the voice belonged to, I couldn't fit it with this thin seemingly teenage elf.
Only moral choice I actually thought about was at the end. Ended up only having 2 party members by the end. Though I never worked out why Varric didn't fight. He was just not selectable.

Eve Myles.

Really? I had all except for Fenris, because of who I sided with and Isabella 'cause she left my party. On my ccurent playthrough I told Anders to fuck off 'cause he's a whiney bitch.
-
oh dear lol

Well I finally beat it. Spoilers:
So I was kinda disappointed that the endgame triggered automatically before I could finish completing all my quests. I still had a few side quests and companion quests to finish up. A couple of things...
WTF Anders. He flipped out and blew up the freakin Chantry! Does that happen for everyone or only b/c I helped him with that Chantry mission? Oops!
My girlfriend from DA:O, Leliana, ended up being the one searching for the Champion and apparently "the Warden" is with him. Looks like they had a lovers' tiff...heh. Also, did anyone else get the quest with Alistair? It was interesting getting his POV of things.
I sided with the mages of course. All of my companions ended up on my side and no one died. Meredith being tainted by the idol was a twist I didn't see coming.
Definitely looks like the third installment will take place in Orlais. Prepare for all the french accents now!
Oh, also, I took off with Isabela to have crazy pirate sex!
-
Also, out of all of my companions, Anders and Fenris hit on me the most. W...T...F...
-
yes Tbone it happens to everyone.
-
I never actually got Isabella as a companion. I assumed, like all others she would appear as a quest. But apparently not.
I lost Fenris because I sided with the mages. I lost Sebastian because (although I personally would have ran a knife through both of his eye sockets) I let Anders life because my character had her only relationship with him. But I lost Anders because I told the bastard he had to run or I would kill the bugger. Varric was just unselectable (though was in a cut-scene, or rather his voice was). And my sister, well, lets just say the Taint didn't agree with her.
I had intended to play the game with only a full-female team. That fell through after act 1 when I failed to "collect" Isabella and lost my sister.
-
Who is Sebastian? I never got him. How was Varric unselectable? I thought for sure he was a mandatory companion since Varric mentions in his narrative that he joins up with the Champion.
My sister was my primary mage, and after the end of Act I, I could not find a suitable replacement. It's kinda lame that there's NO way to use her through most of the game.
-
Sebastian is the Exiled Prince DLC. And it beats me why Varric was not selectable for the last part. He was in he cutscene (albeit invisible). So I was left with Aveline and Merril.
Sister was going to be my main mage too. That being said. Forcing myself to have Anders in the team, due to the budding relationship, was handy for the High Dragon fight. His revive and group heal was very handy.
Still, should have ran a blunt blade through the bastard.
Hidden/spoiler stuff:
Oh, I got the Alistair stuff. I imported my save, which had him as King with whatsherface as Queen. The appearance of Leilana was cool too.
Bit annoyed the ending. Despite siding with the mages I still had to kill a great many of them. And when the First Enchanter decided to go all Blood Mage, I could have switched the game off.
It felt like they had handed you a great choice then chucked in an ending that fit whatever you chose to do. I mean, you end up killing both sides!
-
ugh. i've had zero time to play since i got it. thanks for hiding spoilers =)
-
I kept my whole party =p ha! Funny thing is the same thing happened in my first playthrough of mass effect 2 lol
-
Ah, but with ME2 the characters are ALL awesome (I LOVED Thane). There's a reason why I want Anders to die; he's a whiney bitch and so's Fenris.
The noobs.
-
i got fenris last night. he is kind of like sten. i also downloaded the prince expansion. i'm hooked now. it's all i did yesterday (after my 8 hour video game party the night before lol)

Best... review... for DA2... ever... lol
-
so i never got sebastian, just a quest for him (?) which i completed. idk i'm on ps3 maybe it's different. ;( i just got back from the deep roads, and while my sister was not my primary mage, i didn't take her with me. so, she ended up being taken away to the circle. oh well. i am really annoyed how much homework i have this week and really want to play more !@#$%*#@
-
if i had waited i would have known that i get sebastian later :)
-
i made win. fenris left me because i let anders live. but he was a rival anyway (?) i gave isabella to the qunari lol bethany was selectable at the end but i didn't care at that point. i first tried killing anders to keep sebastian happy since he has sick dps but varric was a fine replacement. unfortunatley i couldn't play without anders anymore...
does anders do the thing at the end regardless if you don't help him with his side quests?
-
With me Anders just sat in the corner and healed away as an npc. Because my hdd has gone KABOOM I have (yes, have to) play it again. Anders and Fenris are gonna be killed/ditched asap into my playthrough
-
lol i wanted to start again too but no time :(
