Title: Oops...

So Eternal Vigilance ended up being as wishy-washy as this young girl I've been having problems with...

So I guess I dropped the ball a bit. I told him that I was very busy for the month of May, but I guess he forgot about that. We had been emailing back and forth, but I missed last week's meeting so I wasn't able to arrange the game night thing they were wanting to do. Oh well, if they are this particular, it's probably for the better.

"Tbone and Broin,

Thank you for meeting with us to explore the option of the Furious
Angels entering into the agreement. I've come to the conclusion that
our guilds are most likely not the best fit for each other in this
arrangement. While it is merely an agreement to land on the same
server, and remain open-minded about possibilities down the road, I
have to consider that our present attempts at communication are an
indicator of what communication may be like between our guilds when we
are in-game; and I think you can agree that this whole attempt has
been a bit stilted, it has proven a bit more difficult to coordinate
than I would like.

The Furious Angels look to be a great guild and I regret that we will
not be proceeding forward together during Phase 2, but of course the
possibility remains that we may still land on the same server, so we
can never be sure how things might pan out. Best of luck to you.

Cordo"

Yeah I sent them kind of a WTF type of email...

In a nutshell I said that I thought that phase 2 was just us agreeing to go on the same server and helping each other out.  Which is what we agreed to at the meeting we had a few weeks ago.

Told them I didn't think it had anything to do with having some mutual game night, politics, or holding hands and singing camp fire songs....  (Because I have enough political BS like that to deal with in my work life)  But I did ask for clarification as to if I was mistaken.

We'll see what they have to say.

Unfortunately, my gut feeling was probably correct all along that this was no different than any other 'alliance' I've ever seen/heard about... in that... it's all about a power grab. After we basically had to tell them to 'fuck off' (multiple times) in so many words to their inquiry about getting access to our member only forums during our meeting, I think they realized we weren't easily manipulated like they wanted.

They made it clear that this agreement was merely to ensure we all proceeded with Phase 2 together. Now they're saying one missed meeting is a clear indication of how things will play out in-game?

Meh. If they're going to be that tight-assed about it then nothing of value was lost here, as far as I'm concerned.

Could just be indicative of the tweet/constant facebook update culture today's youth is so hung up on. They clearly needed instant gratification and probably bitched about us in their TS every day about how they still haven't gotten the response they wanted. Who the hell knows. I'm of the opinion that if there were another group of people exactly like FA they would already be members. I hate jackasses that act sunshine and butterflies at first and then give you the bad taste in the mouth treatment like that. Fuck em.

edited to add variety to my cursing.

sorry, coming up on 4 weeks constant travel in the middle east and eastern europe. I mean that each person's response sums that person up brilliantly and shows why I so enjoy this guild/ faction/ group/ clan.

QFT

Clearly, they wanted more than to just end up on the same server. I'm perfectly fine with dropping them since it seems they had ulterior motives all along.

TBH... I'm kinda happy we dropped this... I knew EV was/is just looking for other notable guilds with the hopes of forming an Alliance with... And more than a being a member of the Alliance, being the leader of it... They are just turning out to be what I thought of em since day one... Powerwhores.

Now now, let's not overreact here.
If they are indeed just impatient children, then there's no reason to be angry at them.  If, on the other hand, it was all a power play to secure a firm alliance with (and control over) us, then I'd prefer to feel flattered than offended.  Obviously, for either reason, they thought we were worth the effort to reach out to so we can at least congratulate their good sense is realize that the Furious Angels do, in fact, kick ass.

If they really expect to earn our respect, they'd better learn some patience before anything else can be accomplished.
If they are attempting to manipulate us and place us under their thumb (a paranoid fantasy, in my opinion), they'll soon realize, as they may have already, that the Furious Angels cannot be controlled.  We call the shots and we make our own decisions.

That being said, this whole situation has elicited a spectacular "meh" from me.  They're simply not worth the effort of getting upset.
As an aside, I also definitely agree with Broin's course of action of being straightforward and asking them what the hell they are thinking.

Is pretty odd, oops we missed a friendly game chance (um ok, didn't know this was a test just thought it was a friendly meeting) and suddenly we are out. We are the force knows how far away from Phase 2 anyways so if they are this impatient, I would hate to see what they will be like 2 more months down the road when alliances start falling apart because so and so's guild is in and that other guild didn't realize it.

I wont be losing any sleep about it, and we should never EVER give our members only forums to another guild. they are Members only for a reason. Why they even asked for that is beyond me.

Ok, wow.  I'm not sure what they were expecting here.  This was just to get us onto the same server with a friendly guild, not a wedding engagement.

On the other hand, hilarity could ensue if we end up on the same server regardless.

Well said. Pretty much sums up how I feel about the issue.

Not upset about any other thing than their PMSing... We missed a meeting and, even knowing that our leader was pretty busy IRL, they kicked us? That's cool... I really hope we end up being in the same server in the end, and after seeing how powerful we can be, they try to reach out for us again... I'm sure we will, and always will be, calling the shots here.

Im not angry, no hard feelings (well a bit).. But we are going to make new friends (and enemies) in the server anyways... they are not the only players in the game.

Best thing that could happen.  They show their true colors and the game hasn't even started yet. It's for the best in my opinion.
