As if there wasn't enough to chew on with the pre-orders, check out the details of this EA release:

These weekend play sessions will be open to selected players worldwide and create an opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek of the epic stories, worlds, quests, battles and characters in the game.

So there ya go. You can sacrifice your first-born in September to hopefully be blessed with a Beta weekend and expect to be enjoying the game sometime after the weather gets cold.

That doesn't seem like open world PVP at all. Simply a PvP planet. :/

I think they are referring to it as "open world pvp" in the sense that it is objective-based. Just like Hellfire Peninsula, Halaa, Zangar Marsh, Wintergrasp, etc from WoW where there is some set of towers or asset you can capture and the faction that holds the pvp objectives get a buff while in that zone. Just a guess.

As long as the PvP server that we're on is PvP everywhere, I'll be happy.  I don't mind safe zones, but if we are rolling and patrolling, and we see some imps, I want to kill them.  :)

Guys don't worry about pvp. They have a lot of devs that worked for mythic  working on the game so PVP should not be a problem.  Also objective based pvp will probably be very similar to oRvR in war or DAOC.
