Title: Uniform might be a bit easier to piece together
Post by: Pyroclasam on August 31, 2011, 04:42:08 pm
Was talking to some friends in the beta and one of them mentioned a very nice option to me that may make getting the FA uniform together even easier.

Under Preferences in the Social Tab there is an option labeled "Unify Colours to Chestpiece" and it does exactly what it describes. The only white themed part of the uniform we need to find is the chest. The game can alter the rest to match.

Thanks, yes, we are aware of that. We will certainly want to build from the chest outward. In my build, armor pieces changed their look depending on your class, but apparently in the current build that's not the case. These are things we'll need to figure out, though we'll probably want a slightly different look for each class anyway (we don't want our troopers to looks EXACTLY like our Jedi, but we want the style and color to match).

sounds like some of it will be out of our control though, if the game builds how it matches stuff up. yes? I assume that it would color the exact same combos the same way all the time, though too.

For some reason in this build, that option is kinda buggy. It works, and it doesn't? lol

Me and Ragnarok have been exploring some options via pvp, while Linlinn has been busting her tail (when im not playing anyways) to craft her way to something useful in armortech. getting a trooper in an all white uniform seems to be pretty easy. PVP armor sets carry a lot of white sets, while Smuggler is a bit trickier. the better looking sets are more earthtones so far. Smugglers were definately designed by someone with a fascination with Spaghetti Westerns (evident by armor sets and our futuristic looking six shooter blasters) Im pvping for my lvl 30ish set which seems to be white so we will see how that turns out.

also we will probably need two sets of whatever we choose to craft: one for pvp and one for pve/raiding. pvp needs expertise rating to be more effective specifically against other players, while Pve will be more loose in that aspect and we can stack stats however we feel is needed.

Hey just a thought on the uniform topic.  While I love the FA uniform idea, how does this jive with out "secretive nature" rp aspect?  Doesn't wearing the FA uniform immediately show that the person is a member of FA?  I mean besides the tag over your head of course.  Or at launch does FA come out of the closet so to say and go public?  More questions for the leadership than anything.

What I might suggest is that maybe we don't all need to match to be in the FA uniform.  Maybe we all just wear some symbolic piece of gear(cloak maybe?) or stick to a certain color scheme like white and silver for example?  Just thinking out loud but I'd really like for me personally, long flowing white robes over white armor with silver highlights, and a purple saber.  Just brings a smile to my face thinking about it as I sit here on my three day weekend dreaming of beta.

We aren't saying that as a member of FA you must always wear your FA colors (although that is your prerogative) but during those times when we are grouping up in pvp or the like we ask that you wear the uniform (if at all possible).  Trust me it is an imposing sight on the battlefield and makes a psychological impact on our enemies.

I recall this as in MxO I was one of the "impacted" if you follow.  I remember being impacted by Broin's hacks, Dag's sniper shots, Fuse's knives...

Back on topic though I really think the uniform concept is one we should continue for PvP in some form either the full suit or the cape or some other option.

I think we should all just hack the code to give ourselves fedoras.
