So you like games. I do too. But playing games doesn't benefit society right? Maybe it does.

yeah games can benefit society, especially medicine. At a GDC a few years back the CDC talked about how the WOW "viral outbreak" was a case in point at how quarantine methods are ineffective at keeping a virus from spreading to new populations.
for background, this happened in vanilla wow at the Zul'Gurub raid. the final boss put a disease type effect on players who ended up carrying it to home cities and when they died from it, spread the disease to other players. Staff members tried to Quarantine the disease effect, but players still ended up carrying the virus to other areas causing a massive outbreak.

That is crazy. They need to do this in more games.
