Title: Weekend Testing Schedule (Oct. 7-10)
Post by: Tbone on October 04, 2011, 03:07:57 pm
In so far:

Tbone (Sentinel)
Anamodiel (Sage)
Lithium (Sage)
Broin (Sage)

Gambit (Sentinel)
Maglorius (Shadow)
Khr0n1k (??)

Setun (Trooper)
Zephic (Trooper)
Twotoeturtle (Trooper)

Objectives:

1. Test out the group mechanics and level to 10 as quickly as possible.
2. Create the guild!
3. Test out PvP Warzones
4. Collect data on skills/talents for individual classes.
5. Collect data on planets.
6. Dabble in crafting
7. Test out heroic content and flashpoints
8. Document anything that may prove helpful for launch!

I assume there will be a few others. Since I've been in before, I want to be able to group up with some of the others and show them the ropes. My schedule is a not ideal for this weekend, but I'm going to make the most of it, and I wanted to see who would be around when I'm playing. So here's my schedule in FA time:

Friday:
5 p.m. - create character, then I have to run to work
9:30 p.m. - 4 a.m.ish - Play time!

Saturday (working all day):
9:30 p.m. - 4 a.m.ish - Play time!

Sunday:
10 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Play time!
9:30 p.m. - 4 a.m.ish - Play time!

Monday:
ALL DAY MARATHON until shut down at midnight.

So when all is said and done, I should be able to get a good 36 hours in. I won't get much sleep or do anything else, but hey, I can sleep later, right?

Friday: 5pm until 4am.
Saturday: All day marathon.
Sunday: All day marathon.
Monday: 12pm-END

Seriously going to put so much time into this it won't even be funny. No drinking for me this weekend, and I have no tests or anything going next week. SO STOKED.

I nominate moving the meeting to Tuesday next week.

By the way, if you have trouble with getting the launcher to work like I did:

Here's how I got it working. Basically a part of the setup isn't unraring a section correctly.

1. Browse to the extraction folder (mine was User/AppData/Local/Temp/InstallSWTOR)

2. Open swtor.rar win WinRAR or another archive program.

3. Extract all the data from that file.

4. Open launcher.exe

5. Start patching!

And Fuse, we've already run into that problem once, so I'm not going to risk it :(

Looks like I'll be able to roll with you most of the time, Ana. You'll probably just end up ahead of me since I'll be working.

Let's make sure to fill out all the surveys just in case they open up more weekends to some of us later.

Well ironically my supervisor said if we felt like taking time off next week to go ahead and do so because we're in a 'slow' period for a week. Basically it means take a couple fucking days off. I guess I'll take at least Monday off.

I'm getting error:

ABORT: Certificate authentication failed, please re-install to correct the problem. (.\winmain.c/449)

I haven't researched the issue yet--but off to a bad start.

Problem with the launcher right now, reports Bioware in the sticky. It'll be fixed tomorrow.

if you just set your system clock back to either october 3rd or any day previous this past month ie september 4th instead and launch the game again you can get passed the abort cert auth error until bioware fixes it.

As far as the time I'll be playing... it looks like I'll have the entire weekend to play at the very least.

I'm working on a way to get off early on Friday. Though, Monday I'll be working from 2pm till 11. I'll likely not get much time in on Monday because of that schedule at work. I'd stay up late sunday though, till maybe 6-7am

Friday, if I get half a day off, I'll be on from around 8-9 PM until sometime saturday evening, maybe. Just depends when I decide to sleep. :P

Setun

At least until Coruscant..

Yea let me do that now my only problem is I need a new headset still. I am STILL waiting on my disability checks to start coming in I have been without pay for over a month now. Don't go back to work until Nov 2nd. Just waiting to have little extra money but I can log in to get verified.

Edit: All done!

Quick question as I haven't used it since MxO... why can I not see anyone in the channels even though you are in "chatting"?

Going to be a good weekend...

I'm blowing off some work stuff this Friday to be available, and not even going to bother to go into work on Monday.  Though I'll have to do some family stuff on Sat and Sun for a few hours but other than that I'm gonna be at the computer the whole time...

Well until I pass out out.

Anyone hear about Setun yet? What time is he planning on being on? I am debating  the use of time off. Im thinking it may be better to save it for release day... Hrmmmm.

Well the new launcher is working now and I must say the download speeds are impressive.

~1MB/s sustained and bursts of 3MB/s.

I finished patching last night. And yes, I had excellent speeds too. I think the lowest I noticed was 500K

Looks like I got in as well!

Maybe my Theory has come to pass!

The email came in today at 4:38 PM CST

I will be able to play the entire time, from start to finish with very little sleep and as long as Wife Aggro stays at a low level I can pull it off, LoL!

I know what you mean with the wife agro... I'm hoping mine stays busy and lets me run my full gaming cycle this weekend.

My plan:
Stay up all night Friday and play from 5PM until maybe 7am saturday morning.
Sleep till I wake up, probably no later than 3pm or so.
Play again all night Saturday night and most of the day sunday.
Go back to sleep Sunday night, maybe by around 6-7pm.
Get up super early on Monday morning at like 5-6am... play until I have to go to work at 2PM.

Hmmn, I always thought when Wife Aggro was high, you had to pull it off....  :D

Did you see what I did thar?

Note: I'm a bit disappointed with the 22nd Dec (UK) Release date.
It;s gonna be mighty tricky to be online as much as I had hoped around this time; I imagine the same will be true for many who have kids.

This is for those of you who are planning on playing a healer this weekend.
Quote

I really like the Focus Target feature. I think many people in game dont even know it exists, or dont know how to use it so here is what I've found:

You have to first enable the Focus Target feature in the game preferences.

Once enabled there are some things you can do with it.

ALT F sets your Focus target. A small healthbar will appear to the upper right of your normal target healthbar.

If you have something other than your Focus targeted and hit ALT F it will swap their positions. (Focus will be come target, target will be come Focus).

If you hold END (by default) your mouse cursor will turn purple and any ability you use will be used on your Focus target rather than your main target. (I use this for healing, I set my companion or the main 'tank' as my Focus)

Also of note, if you hold HOME any ability you use will be used on yourself instead of your target. This can be helpful if you need to heal/buff yourself but have another player targeted.

The time is going by soooo slow, I don't know if I can stand it anymore. I been trying to find something to do around the house to make the time go by faster, the house is clean and nothing else to do. My wife has been looking at me strange saying, umm ok you are acting weird you must want something. LoL!

Wow, that was a very smooth launch. No crashes. No lag. We played for 12 hours straight and I still didn't want to leave and wouldn't have except that I have to work a double tomorrow.

We did a bunch of heroics, a flashpoint, a bunch of warzones, and started the guild! Very successful! I'll post more tomorrow...
