Title: which card is better?

which one is better, the Radeon 9800pro 256MB, or the Radeon X600xt 256MB?

Post by: Anonymous on August 07, 2004, 09:54:13 am: I bought the 9600 pro like a year ago. I know it's not even the ones mentioned here, but I thought I'd just forwarn you. You should check the card before you buy it, to see what direction the cooling fan is going to face on the card. My fan points straight down, and this puts a lot of stress on the ball bearings. It wasn't but 30 days later that I had to get the card replaced because the fan died on me, and this was after making a lot of really annoying sounds.

Luckily, the card was still on warrantee, but I didn't have enough money for a better one, so I just got another 9600. That one lasted me about six months before the fan started giving me problems. Still, these aren't long lifetimes on the cards. Just be careful.

Post by: Anonymous on August 07, 2004, 11:51:09 am: I got the X800 256mb Pro, very nice card. I need to upgrade more RAM though, I have 512mb. It's good but I need more with the multi windows.
