Nobody rips off anybody in these genres, they're both thought up by creative writers with original ideas...

Really Fingers, this is a moot argument, clearly Eragon (and by extension the Inheritance Cycle) trumps both franchises.

In all seriousness though, Star Wars VS. LotR isn't even like comparing apples and oranges. More like comparing volcanos to naval destroyers. They're both great. Making the argument that one is better than another for whatever reason, particularly the justification of one or another's like or dislike of one or another is just silly.

We need to have a talk regardless because I don't see you on TS often enough to bullshit with you. <3

But for reference, I had in mind the movies. Enjoyable enough as I found the Eragon books, the movie was akin to eating my own earwax in comparison: maybe a good idea when I was two or three, but just awful as an adult.
