http://thematrixonline.warnerbros.com/registration_beta/req.html
For those of you who didn't know yet and this comes as good news for many but the matrix online beta requirments have gone down! Have a look for yourself!
-
What has gone down? Seems the same to me..
-
which point went down that really counts?(ram, video card, ghz). I see no real difference.....
Edit:Sorry for posting the same thing again....musta been typing when he posted....
-
More vid cards, all 8000 and 9000 series radeon cards. Sound lowered to DirectX 8.1, no longer soundblaster required and added hdd space and read rates and 3 disks.
-
ahhhh. Well i would hope that anyone wanting to play this game would have at least an 8xxx....or else there comp sucks for contemporary gaming(no offense). Glad they took down the sound card. I got a really cheap sound card, because theres no reason to upgrade...
-
They'll probably lower the requirements even further when the game actually comes out.
-
itll prob be close to WoW and EQ2...even though those'll be atronomical as well
-
I bet the size of hdd space will be greater than WoW and EQ2 the matrix online is friggen huge 4 to 8gigs, I remember our 2nd pc had like 1.5gigs, most game exceed that today amazing really.
-
itll surpass it in hdd and maybe what connection you have(one area will be extremely hard to upkeep), but the specs should be lower. Just compare screenshots...
-
Nothing really significant seems to ahve changed. I think theyll probably lower the specs more when the final version final goes on sale, cos you won't be needing to run it with a bunch of glitches and crap in it. The gig space will probably be the same or bigger though.
-
I suspect the final requirements to be about the same as City of Heroes. Having beta tested it, I would say that the engine of The Matrix Online appears incredibly similar.
It may just be my mind playing tricks with itself due to the fact that they are both set in a cityscape.
-
Hang on, every single big mmorpg that is coming out soon has been mentioned in this thread. EQ2, WOW, CH. But what about Warhammer online? Why the hell is everyone ignoring it? I am teling you, that game ROCKS! I know why you are shunning it. Its because its a british game, isn't it? Lol

How is CoH? My local arizona lan party clan <SHAMELESSPLUG> www.lancamp.com </SHAMELESSPLUG> has taken a liking to it. We now have a dedicated Teamspeak channel AND forum for it ;)
But seriously... is it fun? Why no super villans?
-
I heard they were making an expansion for CoH called City of Villains. Can someone confirm this?
-
So is the MxO Beta ever coming over to europe (more importantly Uk! :D)?
-
WHAT! Is everyone ignoring me? Warhammer online, people! Just check it out, please!
-
hahaha we arent! How is it? I like never even knew it was out. Sheesh... talk about lack of marketing
-
So anyway...
-
Its not out, but neither is EQ2 or WOW, or even COH, so why were you guys ignoring it, it has teh best skill system and magic system around. Were none of you Table-top gamers?
-
I never played. My buddy spent his life savings on that damn game tho. lol
-
still needs 512 ram which is double what i have, m...u...s...t h...a...v...e m...o...r...e r..a...m
-
ahh, i got new ram a fwe weeks ago, it is a blessing, from teh GODS. Hahahah, not really, it just makes my comp better.
-
Building myself a pc... need £1000.. donations accepted, HEY, thats an idea. If everyone sent me like 2/3 quid then i would easily be one my way toward making money, i mean thats like 200 quid (sterling). So pretty please :D
-
I'll give you 2/3 quid if you give me 2/3 hundred.... pence.
-
It looks like UK will continue to be shunned by MxO until it is actually released, admittedly, I wont be able to play it until i actually get my new computer in like 3 months.
Swanky laptop...I'm so excited.
-
I hope it comes over to UK, although I don't like where it says in the Beta requirments that you have to be in Canada or the U.S. "we can always hope though"
bring the Beta to us!!
-
Yea, bring it on :D:D:D
-
Yeah, I heard about the City of Villians too.
As far as the System Requirements go, I'm sure they'll be lowered by the time the retail version hits so they can maximize the amount of copies sold. For now the reason they're so high is so they can test the limits of beta without completely killing it with lag or even bringing the server down.
-
I can! It'll be released in Marchish -- in the sytems it says the sixteenth, but we all know Halo 2 was supposed to be out last year, so who knows. But, yeah...City of Villains should be out next year sometimeish.
-
I suppose its good the req's went down, I can still handle it :P
Although my vid card is borderline with it
-
Checking out the screenshots, I have _no idea_ how machines with less than say 512 or even 1 gig memory will handle those kinds of graphics..
-
I sure hope so, cuz I don't think I can go that high any time soon.
-
I hope 256 can handle it. I think it should be able to cos ive played other games with 512 recommended and it worked out fine for me, but well see. Hopefully, I'll get Beta, and then if that doesn't work well i'll try to upgrade by November.
-
I'm sure video quality will be customizable. All I know is my machine will handle it just fine! Hehe...
-
Wow if you still have 256 i'm wondering what or how the hell your able to play mmorpgs.I had to upgrade to 768 last year when I had swg.
-
Hopefully I will be able to make my Uber Comp in time for it. Fingers Xed
-
time to upgrade Forman? ;)
-
Really, you need at least 512MB of RAM to run XP nominally. The system was designed as a resource hog (you can tweak some of the visual settings and change page memory size for some speed improvements) and it needs the extra workspace.
With all the new technology, now's a good time to evaluate your FSB (front side bus). That is the pipeline between your CPU, Northbridge (chipset), and RAM. All Pentium 4's 2.45GHz and above operate at 800Mhz FSB now, so check out a motherboard that's going to offer you that full bandwidth. Also make sure that your RAM is synchronized with the bus, by purchasing RAM with bus that is a factor of 800.
For instance, 1GB of PC3200 RAM costs only $130 now on pricewatch, and offers a bus of 400MHz (which means that your RAM can offer up bits of information once every two CPU clock cycles). Whether you understand all of that or not isn't too important, just make sure that you maximize the efficiency of the components you select for the heart and brain of your PC.
I'm going to do a little write up because I know quite a few of us need to upgrade/buy new before this game comes out.
-
1 gig of ram really helps!
-
well you know they got the video settings maxed out with AA etc. i'm betting 512mb of ram will run it smooth enough to play.
-
It really depends guys. The most IMPORTANT factor is video card. Hands down. But you have to make sure you don't have a bottle necked system. For instance if you have a nice NVIDIA 6800 ultra card but only have a 1.7ghz proc with 256 MB of ram... the video card is just going to waste.
You need to make sure it's balanced.
A combination of fast ram proc and video card will do you just fine. For all those of you who are running older video cards, you will want to make sure you get a nice direct x 9 card to run this game or you won't be able to "see" a lot of the pretty eye candy they are offering up.
-
I've got a Radeon 9800 Pro 128, but an Athlon 1500 and 512 megs of ram. Not too horrid, but the 9800 could really do so much better...
-
the ram is what i need them to lower, lol, ohh well i guess im upgrading b4 the game comes out
