Title: Moving to a slower internet connection.
Post by: Anonymous on August 28, 2004, 02:54:03 pm
Hey guys and gals. Sadly I'm moving home today which, for those who don't know, also means I'll be back on a 28.8 modem. (Well, connection anyway.)  The phone-lines where I'll be moving suck really bad.

I've been talking to my parents about upgraded to, at the very least, a satallite connection. I should still be able to browse these forums even on the 28.8 connection, but I won't be quit as active on teamspeak or some of the games we've been playing. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can get that satallite conenction up and running and this won't even be an issue.

I also have plans to move to a friend's place if I can't convince my parents to get satallite. At this location I would have business class cable, and actually be better off than I was at the college. I'd preferr the latter of course, but can't be certain just yet.

Anyway, it was nice getting to know everyone on teamspeak and I hope to be back with you sometime soon!

awe man Satillite is not the best for gaming.. the delay between download and upload is quite evident.. however better than phoneline... Investigate Wi-FI.  if aplicable.  Good luck buddy!

No doubt eligoh.

And, sevker.. Yeah, I know about it... but like you said, it's better than phonelines any day.  Sadly that's all that is offered in the area my parent's live. I really do hope i can move in with that friend i mentioned. Cable would be so much better, and cheaper.

I tried to play an online game with smoke signals once...but I think I set fire and then woke up in the hospital with third degree burns all over my body...

You need drums, like African tribes.

Maybe you can just bypass your modem entirely and send telegrams :)

Do you mean Amish? Those people are... different, I mean no technology, come on, I bet really they just like the attention and there is a Amish underground full of hackers where they bribe politicans and stuff. Or perhaps I'm just paranoid.

28.8, it would be faster to drive to the server, store the data on a disk and drive back to your house again. And repeat the process for each packet you want to send. Good luck getting Satelite though.

If you are going to fall for a hoax like that you shouldn't be allowed to drive, let alone roam the internet.

Oh man. You know what this means, right crimson? This means you can no longer be a captain, due to your unstability. Sorry, you must be demoted to private on the libertas, and Zink will take over your ship. Er, I meant Iluvatar will.....

Cya man. Been nice knowing yeah. My smoke signal is light  reddish if you want to contact me through there.

PS: You'll still be on AIM right?

I'll be back on broadband in a couple weeks. I have it all setup to move in with the friend and get business class cable. Yay.

Great news.

Especially since you're the captain of the ship I'm on.

Didn't want to have a MIA captain :-)
