I have a Dell Latitude D505 and my video card is below specs (the pointer won't move). Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to upgrade, I don't know if it is possible because it's a laptop.
Thanks guys.

I found a radeon 9200 for 50 dollars and geforce 4 mx(dont no if the geforce is compatable) for 20... but I'm going to wait until I get a reply to my petition before i spend any money
-
i sent a petition already and they said it was the vid card, I don't even know if there's anything i CAN do, other than buy a new comp, which i can't afford. They told me to do a 'DxDiag' and this is what came up:

They said it's not a bug and it's probably that my card is subpar. Can anyone understand this and tell me what to do?!?!?! It would be much appreciated!!

here's a third party 9800se for $130
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-303&depa=0
but i highly reccomend just getting the original for $200+ ;)
-
yea those reqs are way off, its actually a pretty demanding game.. :\
-
Although I havent jacked in yet (waiting for someone to make me a beta cd. CEREAL, YOU HEAR ME!?, that or the county to get off their asses and make my neighberhood dsl compatible), I have a 9800XT 256 mb. Waiting for the x800 XT P.E to come out. Of course, without a high speed connection my "uber" comp is crap.
-
Damn, i dont wanna have to pay for a new video card. I've got like nothing, and i need to save up for a keyboard (musical kind, not comp kind). Any other options?
-
Support says my drivers are 3 years old and the card is below specs/........ I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo furious(no pun intended) when my bf gets home he might be able to help me get a new video card.... but i dunno.... im scared :( :2'(
-
My new video card came today, I installed it, and now the code when the city loads actually moves, the mouse works and i can see all of the user interface! whoo! now to work on the two 512s of RAM...
-
what card did you get? and how much was it?
-
Powercolor Radeon 9200 SE, 68 bucks on newegg
-
Oh man. You bought an SE? Go out and buy another one now.....theres a reason those are so cheap compared to the other cards. At least a regular 9600 or 9800 if your gonna buy a card, because games arent lowering in specs.
-
whats the difference between an se and...something else....?
-
Well, from personal experiance, the SE is a bunch of problems that doesnt stack up to a normal card in the series.
9600 S.E<<<9600<<9600 PRO<9600 XT
That the basic pattern for any of the ATI series, not including all the oddball saphire versions. Id have to say, go for a Geforce if your actually gonna pay for an SE, as even though I dislike both, the geforce will do a lot better in every aspect possible basically.
But Im not as knoweldgeable as some of these others guys, so I cant give you all the nitty gritty.
-
well if i could get something better, i would believe me

I am feeling your pain.
I've had to spend $$$$$$$$ on household stuff (New bed, Daughters Choir) I hadn't planned on. I needed a new card quick, but needed to think $$$. I had to settle.
I got an ATI 9200 PCI w. 128mb. It works. I had Dx 8, and had to upgrade to Dx 9. *WITH* tax....about 92$. A slight bit less than the same card w. overnight shipping on Newegg.
An overnight of the 9600 XT I was looking at would have been 180$ (Tax, shipping...). I wasn't going to have the money for about a week, maybe two...and I darn sure didnt want to wait that long. So I comprimised. In the store I went to, it would have been more. So, I basically matched NewEgg locally and got something that works. I can deal.
For grins, I *tried* on my older vid card...no dice. Couldn't move the mouse to even select gender for my RSI. So I went shopping.
I run dual monitors, now I have one card for each screen. By January (or anytime after we get back from our cruise) I can likely save up for something a LOT closer to an x800 ( Heck, it could BE an x800, if I ask Santa nice enough. She usually hooks me up.) Then I have something with a bit more torque in my AGP slot and something ......well, better than my old card...for my second monitor.
I'm all out of "Mad Money", but I have a plan. :)
-
is a new video card the only thing that will cure this problem or has anyone found out anyother solutions?
