News and Announcements / Re: New Film Set in the World of "The Matrix" Announced« on: September 13, 2019, 10:16:57 pm »What is everyone's thoughts on the upcoming Matrix movie? Looking forward to it? or Not? I'm curious if MxO would be considered cannon. I think it's one of the least worst outcomes. It's been rumored for years that Warner Bros wanted a reload of the trilogy (no pun intended). I think it was going to happen one way or another with or without the original cast and crew. The fact that they have an original director and creator on-board, plus some or all of the cast, and considering that Keanu is in his prime (so it's not a desperate attempt to become relevant again) gives it a good fighting chance of successfully continuing The Matrix universe in a positive way. Or maybe I'm way too optimistic! 33

Yes, always use arctic silver 5. Remove any old paste with a dab of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Apply a small dot of compound and spread to a thin layer with an expired credit or business card.

News and Announcements / New Film Set in the World of "The Matrix" Announced« on: August 20, 2019, 09:45:12 pm »
Warner Bros announced an upcoming Matrix movie tonight! As many of you know this faction (as guilds were called in MxO) was formed for the game The Matrix Online. This is exciting news for us, especially since much of the original cast and crew seem to be joining the movie. Here's hoping for a Matrix Online revival someday! Full press release follows:
Quote (August 20, 2019 – Burbank, CA) – Lana Wachowski—the co-creator of the record-breaking and genre-defining world of “The Matrix”—is set to write, direct and produce an all-new film, returning audiences to the reality-bending universe. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will star in the film, reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will produce and globally distribute the film. The announcement was made today by Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. https://www.warnerbros.com/news/press-releases/lana-wachowski-write-and-direct-all-new-film-set-world-matrix-keanu-reeves-and 35

Why waste money at the theater when you can get better quality at home! Seriously, these are at the top of the list as far as 4k releases out there go: http://www.thefuriousangels.com/index.php?topic=8613 36

General / Re: Official: The Matrix 4K« on: December 09, 2018, 09:19:11 pm »Did you watch it in 4k, Lithium? Was your mind blown? haha Yup, the 4K releases of The Matrix are some of the best content available on disk today. The Morpheus Rescue from the first movie is now my quintessential theater room demo. I have a 150" screen with 4k rear-projection and a 7.2 surround sound setup. Even the sequels contain a healthy dose of un-greening and visual effects like the hovercraft battle look amazing. Maybe my only gripe is the final showdown in Revolutions, which is much darker now, or just much darker than I am used to. But, there are some great visuals that were blown out on the old releases that really shine in 4k. I'll post a video below with one such example, it starts at the 6min mark. Neo almost looks like an angel! Was he a member of FA at one time maybe? ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=367&v=JUZC1F3TSrs&t=6m 38

In anticipation of The Matrix Trilogy 4K releases later this month my YouTube knew me well and highlighted a cool little video review from someone who didn't like the movies as a kid but has a new found appreciation for them after re-watching years later.

Rumored cover art for the complete UHD collection. Matrix 2 and 3 are expected to be released this fall.

Here is a great example of the "evolution" of The Matrix on disk over the years. The UHD looks phenomenal given we can't experience the WCG and HDR from a camera capture. The BD remaster looks a little blown out (and the camera probably only adds to it) which might be a result of the HDR transfer down to SDR. It probably wasn't given as much attention. But I imagine it still looks great compared to the last BD release. It's shocking how much green they added to the 2008 release. You can even make out the red safety on the gun in the new shots.

This is one of several reviews that have come in. Then general consensus is a 5-star release.
The big highlight is that the aggressive color grading seen on the old BD has been toned way down and a more natural coloring is allowed to emerge. This color grading effect should be maximized even further on the 4k version which supports the HDR and importantly the wider color gamut. I keep changing the security questions but they keep getting around it. Must have a human handler from time to time.
