I have about 350 dollars at my disposal, and Im trying to decide what part of my way under qulified computer I should upgrade to best play MxO.  Here is what I have:

AMD Athalon mother board 1.09 GHz
2 x 256 mb sticks of SD Ram
NVidia GeForce FX 5600

Any suggestions? Im on a 350 dollar budget,m so keep that in mind.  Any specific products would be nice, or if you need more info, let me know.  Thanks

I agree.. RAM!
I'm on an AMD mobile Athlon 64 3200+ and my vid card is ATI mobile Radeon 9700 -128meg and I lock up and screenfreeze constantly because I only have 512 ram in my notebook.  $350 is a LOT to upgrade a desktop.. you could easily get a gig of pc-4000 for $120ish bucks.. It's gonna cost me like $250 to buy a gig of notebook ram.  I'd honestly just do the ram first and you might not even have to spend the rest of the money.. the ram could do the trick.  I'm hoping that it will for me.
My computer has more processing power than a lot of the other players, I have a very adequate graphics card and my connection is decent (when Jennifer isn't on the damn phone) and yet my playing experience sucks compared to most others and I'm gonna have to blame it on the RAM until I get home and buy more.

http://www.newegg.com/ is your God for parts.

Here is $88 for 2x 512 at speed 3200.

Here is $99 for 1 gig stick at pc 3200

Just go to newegg and click on memory on the left side.  I build all my towers with parts from there.  I have used their company for well over $3000 in parts and have always been satisfied, including returns.

1. RAM is the best thing to invest on. 1gig is suggested, HOWEVER, make sure your motherboard can support it. You don't want to end up buying your 2 x 512 MB RAM only to figure out the board can only support 256MB per slot. I was going to add 2 x 1GB RAM into my board only to discover that 512MB is the max per slot. =(
2. If you have $$$ left over, use it to upgrade your CPU to as high as your Motherboard can support. NEWEGG.COM
3. The best thing to do is to find out what motherboard chipset you have and see what you can do to max out your performance. THEN, see what parts are out there that you can get for $350.
4. If you think you'll be purchasing a new computer within the next 6 months then save your money. You can do a lot more with $1000 than $350.

ok, Im still kinda new to this personalizing your PC stuff... how do I find out  how much memory my motherboard can handle?  Also, how do I know if I can use DDR ram vs. SD?  I have SD right now, I believe.  LOL, I dont even know how to figure that out. Yea, my comp needs a lot of work, but Im also trying to buy a car, so NEW computer is out of the question.  Thanks for all the help guys.
