Looks like we're going to start getting shitty cinematics soon because they are too lazy to use the process for in game cinematics. That's in the December 12th post of his I believe.

I've gotten into the habit of checking Paul's blog daily. :)

The cinematics are going to be made with flash, but it's not like they're going to be cartoony and South Park-esque like 99.999999% of flash movies on the web. From what I understand, the cinematics will look like what we are used to seeing, but they will just be flash video files like we see in the dojo when creating a new character.

Of course, don't quote me on this. These are just my assumptions. And we all know what happens when I form assumptions. I make an "ass" out of "u" and "mptions".

God I need more sleep.

Yeah, the flash makes me very sad. Seems like they're pretty eager to find shortcuts around what makes the game special.

It's interesting to see him make comments about the game, though. It's easy to forget how much the people involved probably play the game as well. For instance, I remember an interview where they were talking about how Laurence Fishborne was playing MxO to see how they did with the Morpheus character. He met with Morpheus and everything. I'm sure the Wachowski Brothers jack in whenever they've got some time to kill as well (though they probably don't have much time to kill).

First the live-events.

Then all other new content.

Now cinematics...

It's a step down in production value, but necessary if we're to have cinematics at all.

I really feel for them. I mean it's hard doing a job of making cinematics. Whew, I am glad they don't have that huge load shadowing over them, now they can half ass with flash and play more Xbox360 in the office and take random 2 week breaks every month.

Don't believe everything you think.

i'd rather read a well written comic book than watch a 90million dollar suck ass blockbuster.

point being, if they'd hire some writers who have a clue what goes on in the wachowski brother's heads, the game could have the shittiest graphics/gameplay/cinematics/missions and i'd still play it. As is, i'm like one of those battered wives just hoping things will get better, sticking it out until death do us part.

Also keep in mind that Chadwick's primary medium is comics, and for those of you who haven't read his work in the matrix comics ( Let it All Fall Down, The Miller's Tale ), he's pretty good at it. Hopefully being more comfortable with this method of storytelling will help the story flow along more smoothly.

I don't think that doing the movies on flash will affect his writing at all. Flash is a pretty versatile program; most of what you see if amateur stuff on the net so it doesn't look like much. In the right hands, you've got pretty much all the adult swim original shows. So, I hope they can get it right no matter which path they choose.
