since i live in a dorm, i can't havea pet, cept fish. and cats eat fish, so logically that wouldn't work. and the way they like to rush us outof the buildings, i'm lucky if i can grab my coat and keys ...

I'd grab my computer and if it was safe, I'd try to pull out as many crates of records as I could.

Well first I would open a window.

After that I would take the rocking chair and throw it out the window.
I would then take grandma, throw her out the window and hope she lands in the rocking chair.

Can't let that rocking chair burn down.  It's a gift.  That's why I would throw it out the window.
Can't let that rocking chair be stolen by neighbours or firefighters either, that's why I would throw grandma in it.

Just kidding.  The chair wasn't a gift, I bought it.

I'd "take out" the fire with a pan of water, and remind myself to always make sure to fully stub my smoke.

Ah yes, I love the bitter differences of lingo! Seeing how everybody on the west side of the world PUTS OUT the fire while the British take it out for dinner. Candlelight I suppose?

Yes well the lingo may confuse (these riddles where originally designed by word of mouth), so if you were taking it literally I guess it could be misunderstood from the riddle point of view. The correct answer should be "I'd take nothing out. Instead I'd put out the fire."

but the other stuff reveals some stuff too I especially like the rocking chair save.
me.. I'd take my cat, my girlfriend, my wallet, my removable hard drive, and a duvet (err like thick cover for the bed which is perfect because I can wrap all my objects in there and carry them to saftey as well as stay warm outside ).
